Amazon Front-End Engineer II in Seattle, Washington

Here is a great opportunity in the AWS Data Technologies team to deliver tools and services for workflow orchestration and content management. We strongly believe that combining functionality and usability is key to a successful product, and we are dedicated to focusing on customer experience (CX) as a key driver of efficiency for our customers.

Our team is seeking a talented and passionate web engineer who possesses expertise in building highly interactive web interfaces, creating outstanding user experiences, and has a flair for graphic design. You should also have a solid technical foundation in modern web development technologies such as JavaScript (NodeJS, TypeScript, React, Vue, etc.), HTML, and CSS. Additionally, familiarity with essential software development practices like deployment and Test-Driven Development (TDD) is crucial. You should also be prepared to delve into UX design or API functionality based on the needs of the team and projects.

Key job responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop and deploy new product features with a focus on UX

  • Contribute best-in-class programming skills to develop highly innovative, consumer-facing experiences

  • Write clean, maintainable code and perform peer code-reviews.

  • Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility.

  • Work in an agile / scrum environment to deliver high quality software against aggressive schedules.

  • Establish architectural principles, select design patterns, and mentor team members on their appropriate application.

  • Help define and implement standards and promote best practices for the frontend development community including accessibility, performance, localization, scaling using micro-frontends etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience

  • 2+ years of computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis) experience

  • Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as angular and react

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building reusable UX components or libraries

  • Proficiency in React Native using at least one modern language such as TypeScript

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
