Amazon Finance Manager, Payment Acceptance & Experience in Seattle, Washington

The Amazon Payment Acceptance & Experience (PAE) organization is responsible for providing Amazon customers globally the ability to pay, on and off Amazon, with world-class ease of use, payment method variety, and security. Our mission is to build the most trusted, intuitive, and accessible payments experience on earth.

PAE oversees Amazon’s Cost of Payments, including but not limited to Amazon’s relationship with key payment networks, card issuers and other relevant financial services partners in the payments ecosystem.

We are seeking a strong Finance manager to fill a key partnership role which will be highly visible within Amazon Payments and will support the Cost of Payments teams within PAE. The right candidate will be self-motivated, have considerable financial acumen and be comfortable operating in ambiguity. The candidate must be able to balance challenging priorities, meet tight deadlines and provide insights and recommendations through data driven analysis.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead global planning and forecasting for Amazon’s Cost of Payments, the Company’s 4th largest variable expense

  • Collaborate with global stakeholders to gather inputs on worldwide financial forecasts, including the right mix of payment products

  • Drive better controllership of Cost of Payments by improving controls and establishing monthly reporting mechanisms

  • Build financial models/business cases to support cost of payments planning for senior leadership

  • Help the finance team drive standardization, simplify processes and build scalable solutions

A day in the life

Depending on planning cycles, the Finance Manager may be working on a variety of items, whether it’s building out models to support annual planning cycles; tracking, reporting, and bridging against cost of payments inputs for Amazon’s fourth largest variable expense; working with business partners to assess the long-term viability of various product initiatives; and/or helping to kick off a new project to support key business objectives.

We are part of the Payments Acceptance Experience (PAE) Finance team, a group of finance professionals that all work together to help drive our payments business forward.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

  • 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science) and 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)

  • Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving

  • Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results

  • Experience within financial institutions, payments, and / or credit

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
