The finance director will help guide Starbucks growth by providing financial leadership to Global Supply Chain, primarily the Global Planning and Sourcing team. Financially, they will lead strategic planning, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting efforts for these areas, collaborating closely with business partners and finance peers. As a business partner to the Global Supply Chain, you will support financial analyses of Starbucks’ purchases including materials and ingredients in the cost of goods sold as well as indirect and capital purchases. This role will assist in developing sound financial strategies that optimize our inventory, material flows and savings opportunities. It will be a key position in supporting return on investment as we continuously refine our product portfolio offering to our customers.
As a finance director, you will…
Lead - Set goals for the work group, develop organizational capability, and model how we work together:
• Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
• Prioritize workload of team to ensure achievement of objectives, including identification and resolution of potential resource conflicts.
• Lead cross-functional/business unit project teams.
Plan and Execute - Develop strategic and operational plans for the work group, manage execution, and measure results:
• Contribute to the development of long-term strategies and plans for Global Supply Chain
• Create and manage strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Plan and manage processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
• Direct the development and implementation of quarterly/monthly management reports, variance analyses, and financial review processes. Design and implement procedures for more efficient reporting.
• Proactive engagement and leadership with BU/dept leadership team in identification and evaluation of initiatives to drive growth and optimize profitability.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to facilitate continuity of business unit/department plans across Starbucks.
• Plan and execute methods of improving business performance to achieve financial and operational goals. Identify key performance indicators and track performance against these measures.
• Provide clear direction to the business unit or department regarding the processes, utilization, and coordination of financial resources. Use operational and financial expertise to ensure the development of optimized financial solutions.
Partner Development & Team Building - Provide partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and build effective teams:
• Challenge and inspire team members to achieve business results.
• Conduct and ensure the completion of performance reviews.
• Ensure partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
• Oversee training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
• Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partners, business and customer results.
• Model and act as a leader within the CFO organization, providing mentoring, insights and collaboration to improve the operation or efficiency of the function and company.
We’d love to hear from people with:
• 10 years of experience leading a financial operations teams to support strategic & financial planning, reporting and analysis of a business unit or department.
• 5 years of management or supervisory experience
• 5 years of progressive experience managing varied planning, financial analysis, and business management practices in a large global company with emphasis in retail supply chain, particularly procurement.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
If you live in the greater Seattle area, we offer a flexible workplace that allows for hybrid work. Partners can work remotely up to two days per week.
The pay range for this position may be narrower than that displayed, depending on where the work is performed.
