WORK SCHEDULE:
100% FTE, 40 hrs/weekly
‘On-Call’ shifts DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Located in north Seattle, Heart Institute at UW Medical Center – Northwest provides a wide range of cardiac services, including early prevention, risk assessment and acute and chronic disease management.
Our services include general cardiology, cardiac diagnostic imaging tests and procedures, cardiac surgery, arrhythmia management and electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart services, advanced heart failure management, heart transplant and ventricular assist devices (VADs), adult congenital heart disease management, cardiac psychiatry, cardiovascular genetics and other advanced services. We emphasize imaging quality by ensuring our dedicated team of sonographers have time to perform a comprehensive examination — including the use of advanced techniques — on every patient.

Opportunity to provide career growth. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares patient and independently performs Echocardiography exams & procedures; performs 2-D, real time, M-Mode, Pulsed Doppler, color flow imaging, stress echocardiograms, dobutamine pharmacologic studies, TEE, bubble-contrast studies
Informs patients of exam procedure, and obtains necessary consent for stress tests, evaluates and assesses the patient's condition based upon information from the referring physician, medical records, and patient interview; selects appropriate instrumentation for the exam
Assists physicians with special procedures
Transfers and positions patient safely and properly for examination, observes and monitors patient’s condition and reactions to exam
Produces technically acceptable radiographs in accordance with departmental procedures, selects proper technical factors, reviews and evaluates digital images for technical quality
Prepares preliminary diagnosis / report for cardiologist, including anatomic and physiological data and diagnostic observations
Continually evaluates patient flow and work assignments, makes necessary adjustments, and prioritizes work effectively
Required to answer phones; assist in other areas (such as order entry, image library, scheduling, patient transport)
Sets up exam rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready, inventories supplies and linens, cleans and tidies exam rooms, patient holding rooms, and wait rooms REQUIREMENTS:
Current Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification through American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)OR
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)OR
Registry eligible; registry must be obtained within 6 months of hire.OR
Equivalent education/experience*Two years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer is required to be eligible for the recruitment incentive.
