Job Title: Drill Press Operator

Job Description

Join our team in the manufacturing of hydraulic cylinders within a dynamic and loud manufacturing shop. You will be operating either a large or small drill press, and should be comfortable working in an environment where you will get dirty and oily. Coveralls will be provided. We are looking for individuals with hands-on experience, such as backyard mechanics, assembly, or entry-level machine operation. This role requires you to be on your feet and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Candidates do not need prior knowledge of micrometers or calipers as training will be provided. Patience and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Operate large and small drill presses to manufacture hydraulic cylinders.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear provided protective coveralls.

  • Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Engage in hands-on tasks and operate manual machines.

  • Learn and apply basic math skills for measuring and tool usage.

  • Take detailed notes and ask questions during the learning process.

  • Maintain punctuality and a strong work ethic.

  • Avoid use of cell phones during work hours to ensure focus and safety.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in assembly, machine operation, or backyard mechanics.

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.

  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculations.

  • Willingness to learn and operate manual measuring tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Patience and attention to detail.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Strong note-taking skills.

Work Environment

This role is based in a Seattle-based NFPA and custom cylinders shop, serving the marine, logging, and mining industries. The work environment is a loud, industrial machine shop that is very old and dirty. You will be working with manual machines, and there is no break room available. This position is ideal for someone who values the opportunity to learn a trade and work closely with a small team.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00
