The UW Bothell Advancement team has an exciting opening for a Director of Marketing. This is a full-time, regular position.

The Director of Marketing will develop, implement and evaluate strategic marketing plans that advance initiatives at UW Bothell; support fundraising activities; advance alumni relations and student recruitment; keep UW Bothell’s constituents informed and engaged; and enhance the overall awareness and reputation of UW Bothell.

In addition to being a leader on an integrated marketing and communications team and supervising the team’s Advancement Writer, the Director will be responsible for building working relationships and collaborating with colleagues across UW Bothell’s Advancement team, the UW Bothell campus and the UW’s tri-campus community. This position will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications.

What You Will Do: Strategy Development (40%) • Collaborate with Advancement leadership and other colleagues to create and execute strategic marketing and communications plans for key audiences, including donors, alumni and stakeholders. • In partnership with Advancement staff and other colleagues across campus, develop comprehensive strategies for digital (website and social media) campaigns, including website keywords and other SEO tactics and measures. • Lead the review and use of market research data to enhance UW Bothell’s brand recognition and reputation. • Consult with the Enrollment Management team on marketing strategies aimed at undergraduate student recruitment, highlighting UW Bothell’s distinctive offerings and advantages.

Plan Implementation (40%) • Implement and measure key marketing campaigns for the development and alumni engagement teams, including the production and distribution of plans for direct mail, the alumni newsletter, event promotions and scripts, and fundraising materials such as case statements, concept papers and gift proposals. • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of campus-specific statistical data and information, including FAQs, facts, program rankings, and pride points to support marketing and communication efforts. • In coordination with Advancement staff and University stakeholders, create a process to disseminate statistics and other points of pride; and ensure UW Bothell’s key marketing messages and facts are reflected online, in digital/print publications and at events.

Leadership (15%) • Supervise the Advancement Writer and, as needed, marketing student employees. Collaborate with the Associate Vice Chancellor of Marketing & Communications to develop priorities, define scope and supervise day-to-day activities.

Other duties as assigned (5%) • This includes, but is not limited to, special projects and attendance at key UW Bothell events.

What You Bring: • Ability to conceive, implement and evaluate strategic marketing and communication plans, including managing and directing budgets.? • Ability to engage authentically with diverse stakeholders and develop marketing and communications that are aligned with UW Bothell’s mission and core values.? • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with high attention to detail and ability to translate scientific or technical information for the general public.? • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, at varying levels. • Experience with content management systems, SEO and Tag Manager best practices and implementation. • Knowledge of current desktop publication and web applications, such as Word Press and Adobe Creative Suite. • Experience managing and developing staff and/or teams. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with a broad range of technology and systems. • Reliable transportation for local travel. • Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally for event setup and tear down.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field AND five years of experience in professional marketing or related field.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
