Seattle Children’s Hospital Data Scientist, Senior in Seattle, Washington

Responsibilities: As part of the Research Scientific Computing Team, you'll work with scientists, developers, analysts, and business owners in a team-driven, agile environment to support cutting edge research projects. Using traditional bioinformatics applications combined with modern big data technologies, our team enables the Institution to better leverage high throughput multi-omics analyses to accelerate translational research and improve patient care. Collaborate with researchers across multiple disciplines to develop solutions and tools to advance research with advanced analytics. Provide support and training to researcher partners to improve technical literacy and programming skills across the organization. Dive deep into vast repositories of structured, unstructured, and streaming data to find the input for models. Create tools and libraries that can leverage products for efficient use across the enterprise and beyond. Please note: we are unable to support visa sponsorship at this time Job Posting Addendum: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Demonstrated advanced-skill level, knowledge, and proficiency in the application of data science tools and methods to applied clinical or business problems; R or Python preferred - Demonstrated experience in accessing, querying, and manipulating multi-dimensional data sources, including multiple source systems from databases, flat files, free text, streaming, etc. - Experience with data visualization for non-technical audiences - Ability to work with cross-functional teams to coordinate assigned work and accomplish clinical or business objectives - Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills - Familiarity with agile/scrum methodologies - Familiarity with command-line interface language (e.g., bash, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell) - Comfortable with public speaking and presentations to audiences of 10 or more - Ability to solve and resolve complex technical problems; taking a new perspective using existing solutions - Ability to apply best practices and knowledge of data science to improve products, processes, or services - Ability to interpret customer needs, assess requirements, and identifies solutions to nonstandard requests - Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships including the resolution of difficult issues - Ability to manage and coordinate small projects or programs with manageable risks and resource requirements - Ability to interpret extensive variety of technical instruction and deal with complex variables - Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to think creatively - Strong understanding of data science concepts and techniques - Understanding of security and privacy issues - Able to work independently, with minimal supervision Requirements: Required Education/Experience: - Bachelor's degree or higher in Computational Biology, Computational Immunology, Biostatistics, or related field and 5+ years as a Data Scientist or Senior Data Analyst OR a Ph.D. in a STEM or relevant analytical field that demonstrates analytical and technical competency and 2+ years or relevant work experience in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Biostatistics. - Highly skilled with multi-omics or multi-modal high dimensional data analysis and pipelines, e.g. next-generation sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, phenotypic readouts, imaging, and clinical data - Experience in one or more high-throughput methods such as GWAS, WES, WGS, RNA-Seq, ssRNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, etc. - Experience developing and using statistical models and algorithms to drive scientific inquiry - Advanced experience in at least one data science language (e.g., R, Python) - Experience in data extraction using at least one data manipulation language/package(e.g., SQL, R-dplyr, SAS DATA step, Python-pandas) - Experience working with
