Amazon Data Engineer, Identity Services in Seattle, Washington
Description
Amazon's Identity Services team is seeking a talented Data Engineer to transform massive volumes of raw data into datasets that enhance customer authentication, account security, and user profiles.
As a Data Engineer II, you'll play a pivotal role in building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines capable of processing terabytes of data per hour. Your work will empower our analytics team to uncover insights that shape the future of our business strategy.
Key job responsibilities
Design and implement data pipelines to ingest, process, and store terabytes of data per hour related to Amazon customer authentication and account management
Manage and optimize high-performance, fault-tolerant data infrastructure capable of handling hundreds of billions of rows
Work closely with the analytics team to understand their data needs and translate them into efficient data models and pipelines
Ensure data quality, reliability, and security throughout the data lifecycle
Automate data pipeline processes and implement monitoring and alerting to ensure consistent and reliable data delivery
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and analytics, to align on data requirements and priorities
Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering tools, technologies, and best practices, and introduce new solutions as appropriate

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of data engineering experience
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
Experience with SQL
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
