Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer, Sales Incentive Compensation in Seattle, Washington

We are looking for a highly analytical Business Intelligence Engineer to join Amazon Advertising Sales Incentives Compensation team.

Sales Incentives Compensation at Amazon Advertising is a critical driver of the sales employee experience and creates earning opportunity as a pay for performance program. All aspects related to sales incentives are managed centrally, including Incentive Design, Quota Governance, and Incentive Payout Operations. We listen to sales employees and engage deeply across Sales, Finance, and HR leadership to shape the program. Sales employee attraction, motivation, and retention are balanced with achievement of revenue and growth goals for Amazon Advertising.

This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities, deep knowledge of business intelligence solutions, insight into incentive sales compensation best practices and the ability to quickly learn, adapt and work with a variety of technologies.

Key job responsibilities

  • Collaboration and partnership with Sales Enablement, Compensation Design, Finance, and Sales Operations to deliver best in class sales performance reporting

  • Contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of multiple scalable solutions supporting internal/external global stakeholders

  • Coordinating project prioritization with multiple stakeholders, managing and executing competing priorities from end to end within defined timelines

  • Supporting the Ads Sales organization with various ad-hoc reporting, analyses, and data processing needs

  • Implement/deploy data visualizations (ie Quicksight dashboards)

  • Communicate clearly to stakeholders on reporting requirements and status, and work with business stakeholders to understand its value

Key job responsibilities

The role of a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) I involves handling reporting requirements. BIE I also works on setting up data pipelines and Redshift cluster maintenance.

Apply domain/process expertise in working with ETL, and Quicksight Dashboards.

Translate basic business problem statements into analysis requirements, work with the clients to define the best output, influence them and write queries to get the output.

Implement/deploy data visualization or communication like quicksight dashboards, communicate clearly to stakeholders on project requirements and status, communicate analysis, generate periodic reports and work with business stakeholders to understand its value.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

  • Experience gathering business requirements, using industry standard business intelligence tool(s) to extract data, formulate metrics and build reports

  • Experience with one or more analytics visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI)

  • Experience with scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)

  • Bachelor's degree, or Advanced technical degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $65,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
