The Strategic Risk Insights (SRI) organization is responsible for providing cybersecurity risk services to Amazon security teams and business lines. SRI derives risk insights that enables Amazon business to make informed decisions while reducing risk that makes the largest business impact. The SRI Data and Engineering team leverages data to derive these insights using innovative solutions.
As an Applied Scientist, you'll partner with technology and business teams to build solutions that surprise and delight our customers. We’re looking for Applied Scientists capable of using generative AI and other ML techniques to design, evangelize, and implement state-of-the-art solutions for never-before-solved problems.
Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with engineers and risk managers to research, design and develop cutting-edge generative AI algorithms to derive security risk insights.
Work across customer engagement to understand what adoption patterns for generative AI are working.
Interact with security teams and stakeholders directly to understand the business problem, help and aid them in implementation of generative AI solutions, deliver briefing and deep dive sessions to customers and guide customer on adoption patterns and paths for generative AI.
Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and presentations adapted to technical, business, and executive stakeholder.
Provide stakeholder feedback to Product and Engineering teams to help define product direction.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of building models for business application experience
PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Unix/Linux
Experience in professional software development
Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
