The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery within the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) at the rank of Teaching Associate on a 12-month service period (Jul 1 – Jun 30), with an estimated start date in Summer 2025.

This position provides a faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Associate in the Department of Surgery, on a twelve-month service period with an anticipated start date in Summer 2025.
Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Be incorporated into the inpatient and outpatient team caring for colorectal surgery patients at the UW Medical Center Montlake Campus
Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients in the pre-, peri-, and post-operative phases of care in the inpatient and outpatient setting, with inpatient care the position’s primary responsibility
Provide care for patients of five different colorectal attendings as part of a team of residents, medical students, and enterostomal nurses
Patients in the inpatient setting will be predominantly those with colorectal pathologies including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticulitis who undergo surgery
Have the opportunity to independently staff an outpatient clinic of new and established patients REQUIREMENTS FOR ARNP CANDIDATES
Current and valid Washington State Registered Nurse licensure, current and valid state Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner licensure with prescriptive authority
Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or certification-eligible REQUIREMENT FOR PA-C CANDIDATES
Current and valid state Physician Assistant licensure
