Robert Half Staff Accountant in Seaside, California

Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the non-profit sector, based in Seaside, California. The successful candidate will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including the analysis of accounts, maintaining accurate accounting records, and providing support to the accounting team.

Responsibilities:

• Analyzing accounts to identify abnormal balances for corrective action, program code variance analysis, and GAAP analytics.

• Reconciling and analyzing general ledger accounts within appropriate guidelines.

• Auditing records and processes, identifying problem areas, and recommending corrective and preventive action for assigned areas.

• Providing feedback during the planning and coordination of financial audits and other fiscal control procedures.

• Ensuring GAAP assignments are accurate and completed in a timely manner.

• Examining financial documents for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with established policies and procedures and general accounting standards.

• Assisting the Accounts Payable Team and General Accounting team, providing backfill support for team vacancies and leaves.

• Overseeing activity related to financial and compliance audits, providing excellent customer service to fund managers, development and stewardship staff.

• Communicating and composing correspondence regarding accounting matters.

• Providing training, guidance, and assistance to other Accounting staff.

• Participating in monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close processes, including journal preparation and entry, analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of financial data. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger management

• Ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Proficient in NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Able to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks

• Experience in non-profit industry is a plus

• CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not required.
