Geisinger Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions in Scranton, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

The Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions is responsible to educate and recruit potential students about undergraduate and graduate programs at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. The Director manages the admissions recruitment events and admissions review process and oversees the application system for applicants for the undergraduate and graduate programs. This includes contacting faculty and students to provide software training for interviewing potential students, scheduling applicant reviews, overseeing the communication sequence and overall management of the electronic application system (working with IT to insure proper administration). In addition, the Director is responsible for maintaining admissions statistics and creating reports for the Associate Dean of Admissions, Enrollment Management and Financial Aid, and senior leadership of the institution upon request. This position is required to conduct business in a professional and cordial manner that will uphold the integrity and reputation of Geisinger Commonwealth. This position maintains a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to the policies, regulations, and procedures of Geisinger Commonwealth.

Job Duties

  • Participates and leads all aspects of recruitment for undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs.

  • Maintain contact and outreach with high school and undergraduate advisors and potential Geisinger Commonwealth students.

  • Attend fairs, conferences, open houses, informational sessions and visit individual colleges and universities to recruit potential Geisinger Commonwealth students.

  • Develop travel plans and coordinate meetings with prospective students and school and college and university advisors.

  • Answer student inquiries and questions.

  • Meet with prospective students for individual recruitment appointments.

  • Work closely with the Chief Diversity Officer to ensure the college’s diversity mission is included in recruitment efforts including but not limited to holding workshops for prospective students.

  • Manages the administrative software systems with ITS and all outside vendors (AMP, EMPOWER) so the flow of applicant information is correct between all systems.

  • Train and assist and the faculty, Admissions Committee members, and admissions staff to use the admissions system.

  • Manage the upload of all new student information from AMP into Empower for the enrollment of new students.

  • Organize and maintain admission and enrollment data for reports.

  • Oversees the processing for all undergraduate, graduate, and certificate applicants.

  • Participate in the screening process that includes the following:

  • Review admission applications, official transcripts and other documentations required for completion of file.

  • Read and evaluate applicant credentials to determine if candidate meets admissions requirements.

  • Apply holistic review policy to the evaluation of applicant materials.

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA policies.

  • Participate in necessary training including software, holistic review and overview of the application process.

  • Directs the undergraduate, graduate, and certificate interview days for prospective students.

  • Supports and staffs the Admissions Committee, attends all meetings, and provides necessary documents for the Committee to use for ranking and decision making.

  • Update training materials and distribute to admissions committee members and screeners.

  • Conduct training sessions for admissions committee members and screeners. Coordinate applicant materials for committee ranking and decision making. 6. Collaborates with the Associate Dean to develop and implement an integrated marketing communications plan for undergraduate, graduate, and certificate student recruitment.

  • Manage communications strategy for prospective students at each stage of the admissions funnel.

  • Work with Marketing to aid in the development of an integrated marketing communications plan including the development of the marketing materials and content, which includes but is not limited to digital marketing (social media, website, QR codes, email, etc.), program brochures, and travel materials.

  • Analyze data to track the effectiveness of marketing strategies and admissions data

  • Oversee the development of recruitment materials and give-aways.

  • Leads the development, coordination and implementation of all on-campus recruitment events for applicants.

  • Directs the campus visits and tours for prospective students, institutions, and community members.

  • Supervises the development, coordination and implementation of all travel and off-campus recruitment events for undergraduate, graduate, and certificate applicants.

  • Manages the creation and update process for all undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs admissions and enrollment policies.

  • Leads the members of the undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs admissions staff.

  • Collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Assessment regarding all assessments and statistical analyses for the Office of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions.

  • Attends necessary training including software, holistic review and overview of the graduate and certificate programs application process.

  • Participates in strategic planning efforts for admissions to the undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs and other areas as they relate to students. Serves on Geisinger Commonwealth committees as appointed and prepares reports, proposals and related correspondence as required.
