Vanguard Retail Sales Consultant - Return to Work Program - AZ in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vanguard appreciates the challenge of re-joining the workforce after an extended time away from a career. To help you overcome these hurdles, Vanguard has created a return-to-work program designed to support individuals as they refresh key skills and explore the possibility of applying their talents towards Vanguard’s mission - to take a stand for all investors, to treat them fairly, and to give them the best chance for investment success. Our 11-week paid ‘Returnship’ will allow you to learn about Vanguard’s culture, history of client advocacy and principles for investing success. Dependent upon performance during the returnship, participants may be offered a full-time position at Vanguard. You can help our clients achieve their ambitions and realize your own.

In this role you will

  • Engage with crew and leaders of Vanguard as you learn how to advocate for investor well-being using Vanguard’s principles for investment success.

  • Receive coaching and support from industry professionals for a career in business development.

  • Receive mentoring and work with members of our Crew Resource Groups (CRGs) including, but not limited to, our Women in Leadership Group (WILs)

  • Observe Vanguard Sales Consultants and Advisors as they advocate for clients

  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

  • Candidates will prepare and test (with support) for the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam during the returnship and then, if offered a full-time position upon completion of the returnship, prepare and test for the Series 7, and 66

  • The Securities Industry Essentials® (SIE®) Exam is a FINRA exam for prospective securities industry professionals. This introductory-level exam assesses a candidate’s knowledge of basic securities industry information including concepts fundamental to working in the industry, such as types of products and their risks; the structure of the securities industry markets, regulatory agencies and their functions; and prohibited practices.

    What it takes

  • Undergraduate degree and minimum of two years customer service and client relationship management or sales experience (previous investment industry experience is preferred)

  • A passion for investor advocacy and curiosity about the financial services industry

  • Ability to conduct a needs analysis and position suitable solutions to address client needs

  • Track record of growing responsibilities and success in prior roles

  • Self-starter and the ability to work independently

  • Series 7 and 66, 7 and 65, or 7 (or ability to acquire within 3 months of assuming position with training and study materials provided).

  • Live within commuting distance to Vanguard’s offices and willingness and ability to adhere to Vanguard's hybrid work model (Tuesday-Thursday in office, Monday and Friday work from home).
