What impact you’ll make

As a member of the Aero New Units Commercial Operations team, you will lead proposal development, contract negotiation, and project handover to the operational team. This role actively participates in achieving the Aero Business Line financial objectives of earning orders, sales, contribution margin, and cash by securing profitable and executable deals. You will support our Aeroderivative Gas Turbine New Unit Sales team by managing your deals from the commercial and technical proposal development stages all the way through contract signature and handover to our execution organization.

Job Description

What you’ll do

  • Lead Deal Teams to coordinate and produce Aeroderivative New Unit gas turbine proposals for sale and rental opportunities (project types include equipment only all the way to full turnkey) with a focus on the commercial aspects of projects. Matrixed Deal Teams will consist of functions representing most aspects of the Gas Turbine business including, but not limited to, Account/Sales Manager, Application Engineering, Technical Tendering Manager, Performance Engineering, Legal, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Project Management, Supply Chain, Pricing, Services, Product Management, Human Resources, etc. Strong planning skills, influencing skills, and ability to induce cross functional teamwork are essential.

  • Analyze and assess customer requests for proposals/quotations (RFPs/RFQs) and tenders and coordinate the various internal functions to develop winnable solutions.

  • Know relevant business strategies and, together with the Account/Sales Manager, lead the translation of the business strategy into the commercial strategy to achieve business outcomes and operating plans.

  • Create quality Aeroderivative New Unit proposals with responsibility for drafting and presenting proposals to customers, iterating based on GEV’s and customer needs, and leading the parties to a mutually agreed solutions.

  • Negotiate customer contracts including all terms and conditions and associated documents. Head key negotiations with customers and external stakeholders, including third party consultants and legal advisors.

  • Lead as the front line steward of the business Processes, Policies, and commercial Delegations of Authority, identifying project, commercial, and other risks to your deals from R1 through R3 of the commercial process as well as the Order to Remittance process of D3 and D4. Translate contractual terms and conditions into widely known concepts for management review such that all eventual contractual commitments are properly reviewed, mitigated, and approved by the appropriate function.

  • Once/As a deal is signed, set up the operational teams for success via a quality handover of the project from the commercial team to the execution team.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related discipline from an accredited university or college, or equivalent experience

  • Several years (5+) of experience in sales/commercial leadership, experience in market economics, market challenges, technology, and projects, preferably in the power generation industry.

  • Significant experience in Gas Turbines New Unit Sales and/or Rental commercial operations and/or risk management

  • Strong project and contract management skills

  • Proven capability to work well in a matrix environment

  • Clear thinker with an ability to focus on the “critical few” issue/priorities with ability to translate strategy into business objectives

  • Fluency in other languages spoken within the Americas (Spanish, Portuguese, French)
