Ellis Medicine Clinical Informatics Analyst III in Schenectady, New York

The Clinical Informatics Analyst III is a subject matter expert in assigned departments and possess a breadth of knowledge across the service line. Works independently to effectively scope, plan for, and deliver on customer requests.

Focus on complex workflow analysis, implementation of tools and workflows, and support and maintenance of end user tools for clinical applications. Successfully leads and coordinates high priority projects and coordinate effectively with other staff. Takes ownership of high complexity issues and acting as a liaison between customer and support staff to facilitate resolution. Assesses user needs through regular onsite visits to provide support and proactive service, including analysis of opportunities to take advantage of existing tools and workflows. Is highly responsive to customers and shows an aptitude for the development and documentation of customer requirements. Optimizes the use of technology to improve patient and end-user experience, and uses data collected through technology to improve quality of care provided.

Primary responsibility is to work in direct partnership with the end-user community through a continuous cycle of improvement, resolving functional concerns, and enhancing the end-user experience. Coordinates with operational and clinical leadership to assist in the development of strategic improvement plans, in addition to analyzing and reporting on the progression of key metrics. Advises application analysts on improvements needed in enterprise workflows and educational material. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Services, Business, Healthcare or related field or graduate of an accredited professional Nursing program, eligible for RN licensure required.

  • Five or more years of experience in Nursing, Information Services, Business Services, Healthcare or related field.

  • Seven or more years of experience in Nursing, Information Services, Business Services, Healthcare or related field considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Previous experience with Cerner Millennium Applications or Soarian Financials highly desirable.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 25 lb., lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a key board, writing and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or work station for a prolonged period of time in addition to being able to squat, stand and walk for a reasonable length of time and distance.

    RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Establishes and maintains an appropriate support presence with all key customers.

  • Conducts regular onsite visits to support and provide proactive service, including analysis of opportunities to take advantage of existing tools and workflows.

  • Provides first level support for end-user issue resolution.

  • Participates in, supports, and facilitates Operation-led solution development.

  • Develops project plans for mid to large scale projects that lead to efficient and consistently successful product delivery.

  • Presents effective executive summaries for high complexity decision points showing options with cost/benefits clearly defined.

  • Subject matter expert of the application functionality that supports their user’s clinical practice and has breadth of knowledge across the EHR and ancillary applications.

  • Defines high complexity customer goals and requirements and effectively manages customer expectations for delivery.

  • Designs, builds and tests end users’ tools, as appropriate, using best practice principles.

  • Defines customer requirements for changes that require back end work or a high level of standardization and communicates to an assigned Application Analyst.

  • Facilitates collaborative decision-making.

  • Performs analysis of key metrics to identify potential opportunities and help guide project planning initiatives.

  • Work independently to investigate and evaluate end user proficiency.

  • Provide individualized support for end users.

  • Serves as a liaison between end users, subject matter experts, clinical and operational leadership, and the implementation team.

    Salary Range: $29.44-$44.16/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
