Guthrie Anesthesia Technician - Anesthesiology - Full Time in Sayre, Pennsylvania
Position Summary: Assists anesthesiologist and/or anesthetist in patient and case preparation. Functions in the Operating Room and Recovery Room. Observes patients in the holding area. Education, License & Cert: High school grad or equivalent. BLS; certified nursing assistant preferred. Experience: No prior experience required. 2 years healthcare preferred. Essential Functions: Demonstrates effective time management, flexibility and priority setting. Utilizes proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self or others. Works closely with others in collaborative manner to prepare the patient for surgery. Acts to resolve problems via appropriate channels. Applies principles of microbiology, sterilization, disinfection and modes of disease transmission to promote an infection free environment. Applies principles of sterility maintenance in handling sterile supplies. Assists in the orientation of new personnel and serves as a role model to other anesthesia technicians. Assists with the institution of sterile monitoring procedures including intra‐arterial and CVP lines. Obtains arterial gas samples from established lines as directed. Complies with policies and procedures of the hospital/ nursing department. Demonstrates and integrates age‐specific care for the infant/child/adolescent, adult, geriatric population as delineated by the pediatric/adolescent, adult/geriatric guidelines for care, and appropriate standards for care and practice.
