DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, implement, document, and maintain EHS training programs. Support EHS Management in regulatory efforts, environmental engineering, auditing, emergency response, hazard communication, program development, and industrial hygiene monitoring. Assist in the management of radiation safety and waste minimization. Provide leadership with site EHS Committees and related efforts.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities EHS Training Lead efforts for planning site EHS training for employees, contractors, and other visitors, including training matrix creation and maintenance, PowerPoint, and other training materials, LMS implementation, training, and related activities. Ensure EHS training completed, including written feedback by participants. EHS training records maintained for easy access Lead First Aid training efforts at the site and assist other US sites with First Aid training as assigned.

Environmental Activities Ensure all required environmental air plan applications, requests for determination, renewals, operating permit applications, and fees are submitted and renewed on-time. Complete environmental calculations as needed. Ensure site environmental training sessions have been conducted. Facilitate and escort DEP environmental inspections. Audit compliance with site permit conditions regularly. Ensure all local, state and federal environmental reporting requirements are met. Conducts and coordinates any required environmental sampling. Prepare and submit other environmental reports including Tier II, TRI, emissions reporting and Corporate Social Responsibility data

EHS Committee Activities Lead site EHS Committee, including tracking attendance, following up on action items, leading discussion and completing documentation Ensure continued effective department EHS Committees and audits Lead efforts to drive completions of the safety observations

Other EHS Activities Lead SDS review and approval program for the Saxonburg site. Lead Medical Surveillance efforts for the Saxonburg site. Lead IH program and related efforts for the Saxonburg site. Participate in execution of the Respirator Fit-Testing Program for the Saxonburg site. Manage the Prescription Safety Glasses program for the Saxonburg site. Conduct JSAs, EHSRs, Incident Investigations/RCAs as directed by the EHS Manager and Auditor Follow-up on employee EHS concerns he/she receives. Imminent hazards shall be addressed on the spot. Assist in review and updating of Saxonburg and corporate EHS programs, guidelines and procedures. Stand in for the EHS Manager and/or EHS Senior Specialist at meetings and functions as necessary. Keep up to date with all EHS regulations and techniques. Escort and assist regulatory inspectors as necessary. Assist Lead EHS Specialist to coordinate hazardous waste if necessary. Perform other projects as assigned.

Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in EHS related field or in any related field with an additional 3-5 years of EHS experience beyond the minimal experience listed below. 3-5 years EHS experience required Certified trainer in at least one specific EHS topic desired (such as First Aid/CPR, Confined Space Rescue, or Forklift Operations Certification)

Skills Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C.1324b(a)(3). Participate in 40-hour HAZWOPER training and mandatory member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Respond to emergencies as part of the ERT. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing. CPR certification. EMT certification desirable. Computer literacy, including competence with Microsoft programs (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)

Working Conditions Work environment will range from office to plant floor. This position must generally work on-site (though occasional work-from-home days may be granted at the EHS anager's discretion per company policy). Must be comfortable working with chemicals and machinery. Must be willing to receive calls or work on nights or weekends occasionally. Must be willing to travel domestically as required (up to 5%). Must have the ability to work with employees and customers in a multi-cultural, global team environment.

Physical Requirements Must be able to effectively move around the Saxonburg facility. May be asked to stand for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours). May be required to occasionally perform strenuous work. Ability to lift 50 pounds and move a 55-gallon drum. Must be able to work sitting at least 6 hours per shift.

Safety Requirements All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards. Must be able to wear all kinds of personal protective equipment, including full face respirators. Prior to employment, this employee must go through a physical associated with the role on the ERT and wearing a respirator. This employee must go through annual physicals associated with respirator use and ERT membership.

Quality and Environmental Responsibilities Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
