POSITION SUMMARY:

Collaborate directly with cross-functional site leadership team to develop the Site/Unit Safety Health & Environmental (SH&E) Operational Management Plan (OMP) and drive its implementation through application of the Nestlé Management System (NMS) for Quality and SH&E for operational excellence and adherence to internal and external standards. Provide leadership to the site/ their assigned unit to enable the staff to realize their SH&E goals and create pride in their achievements. Drive SHE commitments through leadership and employee engagement in SHE programs and initiatives.

HIGHLIGHTED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspire Change: Create a compelling understanding of the Nestlé SH&E values and inspire stakeholders to excel in compliance & continuously improve, leveraging NCE Foundations and Advanced Practices (e.g. TPM, Lean Value Stream). Promote a behavioral approach to SH&E, based on the 8 Life Saving Rules (LSR) and the Caring Leadership in Safety (CLiS) principles. Incorporate LSR into the factory's daily culture adherence.

  • Create Strategy: Identify SH&E priorities, SHE risk profiles, current & future challenges, and opportunities for change in their assigned business unit. Develop a holistic strategy and implementation plan for the business unit, aligned with Market priorities & objectives, and with the overall site/unit OMP. Guide implementation and communication of the strategy which will include site risk profiles and risk reduction control measures.

  • Implement NMS : Guide implementation of the NMS and other Group SH&E Standards within their business unit. Develop and continuously improve site/unit SH&E programs to deliver compliance and performance improvement. Ensure local SH&E management system is certified to ISO 45001:2018 (all units) and to ISO 14001:2015 (factories, PTCs, DCs).

  • Develop Capability of Front-Line Leaders: Provide training and coaching to the frontline leaders for the site/ unit to help them take ownership, lead and manage SH&E within their area of responsibility. Provide personal coaching and support to Site/Unit Management Team. Set expectations of 100% adherence to Life Safety Rules.

  • Develop SH&E Networks: Collaborate with the Site Leader and/or Site SH&E Manager to identify, select and develop a SH&E network of professionals, champions, and SMEs for the site/unit. Assist the Site SH&E Manager to develop the functional and leadership competencies of these professionals to ensure there is a robust succession plan for key site/ unit SH&E positions.

  • Provide Guidance: Ensure leaders of assigned business unit receive trusted guidance & support on relevant SH&E matters. Identify expertise and good practices from inside and outside Nestlé and communicate them internally (both within the site/unit and beyond).

  • Provide Support: Coordinate internal & external resources to ensure delivery of high quality and efficient SH&E support, e.g. exposure monitoring, health promotion, health surveillance, life cycle assessment, training. Leverage SHE-PM and other tools to monitor & analyze performance and improve decision making.

  • Audit & Review: Ensure compliance of the business unit is regularly audited, performance is assessed and the results are used to drive further improvement. Promote effective communication of successes and learnings and recognition for strong performers and contributors.

  • Engagement: Learn from Site Leader and/or Site SH&E Manager how to engage with external stakeholders (e.g. trade unions, local regulators, local communities, and local NGOs) on SH&E topics to build long term, positive relationships. Participate in external forums to benchmark with other companies, and share Nestlé practices.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s Degree is a positive.

  • At least 3 years of safety, health, and environmental experience, preferably in a construction environment.

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are preferred but not required.

  • Worked in a high-speed manufacturing operation.

  • Communicated effectively with different organizational levels.

  • Thorough knowledge of record-keeping procedures for injury and illness reporting.

  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards and regulations for the workplace.
