Purpose:

We seek a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic IT team as a "Database Administrator III.” Perform activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of transactional databases, ensuring that the database is available and performed correctly and safely. Perform installations, upgrades and patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security, monitoring, and configuration. Confer with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of databases.

Essential Functions:

 

Technical Leadership (75%)

Performs database administration activities.

Performs basic daily basic database tasks.

Performs security administration tasks.

Performs basic Unix/Linux administration tasks.

Installs, configures, upgrades, and troubleshoots Oracle, SQL Server, Maria, and Tibero databases in Unix/Linux/Windows platforms.

Diagnoses database performance bottlenecks and provides enhancements.

Writes SQL and Unix/Linux Shell scripts.

Creates and maintains operational document procedures.

Other Duties as required.

Project Management (25%)

Manage an extensive portfolio of projects, tasks, issues, and systems.

Manage projects from the initial requirement to the completion stage, ensuring appropriate documentation and completion.

Conduct/Lead formal project meetings with the team, other departments, and customers.

    Education / Required Skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology is preferred.

  • Ideally 7-10+ years of solid experience in multiple and large-scale Oracle and SQL Server databases environment

  • Ability to support a 24 X 7 work environment.

  • Ability to work overtime.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Excellent Analytical Skills and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to think logically and to analyze issues and implement appropriate solutions.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate work assignments.

  • Ability to complete projects on time.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.                                                    

  • Ability to interact positively with internal and external customers.            

    Certifications:

Oracle Certification (OCP) is preferred.

Any Certifications below are a plus:

  • Maria DB and Tibero database

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate

  • Focuses on implementing and managing the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built with Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Azure Data Services.

  • Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL Database Administrator

  • Demonstrates proficiency in MySQL database management, including server configuration, optimization, backup strategies, and security.

  • Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional

  • Covers advanced database administration skills, including managing a secure, highly available database solution using Oracle Database technology.

  • IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2

  • Validates skills in DB2 database administration, with a focus on DB2's latest features, best practices, and troubleshooting.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified Database - Specialty

  • Targets professionals who design, recommend, and maintain optimal AWS database solutions, emphasizing understanding different AWS database services and how they fit into a comprehensive database strategy.

  • MongoDB Certified DBA Associate

  • Focuses on individuals with knowledge in managing MongoDB environments, including a fundamental understanding of MongoDB's capabilities and administration tasks.

  • Certified Cassandra Administrator (Apache Cassandra)

  • For professionals working with Cassandra, this certification demonstrates cluster setup, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting expertise.

  • CompTIA Data

    • Although not specifically for database administration, this certification covers data analytics, data mining, and data manipulation, which are useful for DBAs involved in data-driven decision-making.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Certifications

  • Microsoft offers various certification paths for SQL Server, including the Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, which can be valuable for DBAs focusing on data analysis and reporting.

  • PostgreSQL Certified Engineer

    This certification is for professionals who use PostgreSQL. It validates expertise in database installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Travel:   Some travel, including international, may be required.

Salary Range:  $90,000 to $105,000 per yr.  + an outstanding benefits package.
