U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Control Representative in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Construction Control Representative for the Detroit District, with full responsibility for the management and/or surveillance of assigned civil and/or military construction projects. Responsibilities Observes and investigates all construction phases of highly complex projects to ensure compliance with contract schedules, specifications and shop drawings. Confers with contractors concerning sufficiency and suitability of equipment being used, number of workers employed, etc., to assure completion of work on or ahead of schedule. Review contractor's proposed working schedules for logic, adequacy and to determine whether construction schedules will be met. Recommends revision to schedule as necessary. Conduct site showings and pre-construction conferences and discuss principal construction features and requirements, in terms of methods and equipment operations. Prepare and review other reports such as results of tests, change orders or other deviations approved or submitted with recommendations, etc. Perform biddability, constructability, operability, environmental, sustainability (BCOES) reviews of plans and specifications to determine practicability from a construction viewpoint whether physical obstruction or other construction difficulties. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-09 Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade must be met, specialized experience is defined as: Quality Assurance inspections on facility preventative maintenance, service, and repair contracts. Basic familiarity with vertical and horizontal construction, as well as interior building renovations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08. GS-10 Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade must be met, specialized experience is defined as: Performs Quality Assurance inspections on facility preventative maintenance, service, and repair contracts. Basic familiarity with vertical and horizontal construction, as well as interior building renovations. Reviews, advises on, and evaluates contractors Quality assurance system. Experience with vertical and horizontal construction, marine construction, as well as interior building renovations. Experience in analyzing and suggesting implementation of improved safety measures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09. GS-11 Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade must be met, specialized experience is defined as: Schedules and provides Quality Assurance coverage of multiple simultaneous construction projects ranging from basic to highly complex. Extensive knowledge in engineering and surveying methods and techniques. Determines appropriateness of the contractors' quality assurance system and safety plans and ensures proper compliance. Proficient in administering vertical, horizontal, and marine construction, including the specialty trades of dredging, mechanical, electrical, equipment controls, and fire protection. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-10. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
