Jacobs Inspector & Maintenance Data Systems Specialist (GIS) in Sarasota, Florida
We are looking for an experienced or similar experience Senior (CEI or MEI) Inspector / GIS Technologist for input, development, and maintenance of a Highway Lighting Inventory for FDOT District 1 throughout the twelve counties (Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lee, Manatee, Okeechobee, Polk, and Sarasota in FL . You’ll help design, architect, and deliver complex technical solutions and be passionate about applying cutting edge technology. During your time with us, you will leverage your strong background in GIS, database, automation, and visualization skills while collaborating with experts in various disciplines to apply these technologies on a variety of projects. Field work is required in documenting each highway light including photographs and entry into Survey 123 and/or other applications. Help our team grow by mentoring the early professionals while assisting resident engineers and project administrators in completion of inspection work in accordance with projects and client specifications.

Main Responsibilities:
• Enter information, develop and maintain GIS systems
• Inventory and gather information on Highway Lighting systems
• Performs inspection according to contract documents and FDOT Plans and Specifications
• May be required to perform sampling and/or in‐place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
• 6+ years experience in construction administration and inspection (preferred)
• B.S. Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, Land Use Planning, or directly-related discipline (direct experience can substitute for education)
• High School diploma or GED
• Advanced MOT experience
• Knowledge of construction practices and principles
• Intermediate mathematical skills to perform field calculations
• Have significant experience with the Esri suite of software, including: Desktop: ArcPro, ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcScene. Online: ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal), ArcGIS Server, SDE, ArcGIS Online, Web App Builder. Apps: Collector for ArcGIS, Explorer, Survey123
• Ability to design and customize database schemas, write custom SQL for data querying, and provide custom reporting using SQL Server Reporting Services.
• Significant experience with designing digital workflow ranging from mobile data collection to database management to data visualization.
• Experience setting up field teams for mobile data collection using Collector, Survey123 and Trimble GPS equipment.
• Experience creating, publishing, and managing map services
• Ability to gather and understand technical data for purposes of generating technical reports
• Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients and/or project teams
• Willing and able to travel based on business need
• Valid State driver’s license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check
