Overview:A Cyber Security Analyst III performs duties related to the safeguarding of organizations from cyber threats and ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of their information systems.

Summary of responsibilities:

Incident Response: You’ll use incident response techniques to contain and mitigate security breaches. This includes investigating and analyzing security incidents, creating incident response plans, and supervising incident response teams.

Network Defense: Real-time network defense incident handling is crucial. Analyst responds to new and emerging vulnerabilities, ensuring the organization’s networks remain secure and coordinate response action with the Network Security and Infrastructure teams.

Risk Management: This position provides expertise in the cybersecurity risk management lifecycle processes. This involves planning, program development, ongoing maintenance, and support for information security risk management processes.

Vulnerability Assessment and Management: Regularly assess system vulnerabilities to identify potential risks implications. This position will identify vulnerabilities, prioritize, and direct the remediation of the issues. Analyst will contribute to maintaining and further enhancing the organization’s security posture.

Security Awareness: Advocate security awareness among stakeholders and peers. Collaborate with risk teams to identify gaps and evolve security practices. Develop internal training and awareness materials to bolster the workforce’s ability to identify and respond to cyber security threats.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and execution of corporate threat and vulnerability management efforts, software and systems security and incident response.

  • Provide technical direction to the Cyber Security team and other IT staff members.

  • Responsible for the design and efficacy of general IT system security controls, application controls and business reporting on behalf of the Sr Cyber Security Manager and broader IT management.

  • Able to build and maintain close collaborative relationships with the various cross-functional leaders, team members and other impacted business stakeholders.

  • Make recommendations regarding the development, implementation, and day to day management of the security compliance program.

  • Assist in managing the overall company Cybersecurity Risk Management Program.

  • Perform focused risks assessments of existing or new services, vendors, and technologies.

  • Identify and Communicate risk findings to information security “customers,” or business partners.

  • Provides recommendations to information security stakeholders to enable informed risk management decisions.

  • Identifies and implements appropriate controls to effectively manage information risks in support of business objectives.

  • Continuously improve corporate risk posture, developing solutions for remediating or mitigating risks and managing residual risk.

  • Maintains strong working relationships with individuals and groups involved in managing information risks across the organization.

  • Assists in advising the Sr. Cyber Security Manager and external business leaders regarding recommendations to address the root cause of issues and implementation of management remediation actions.

  • Participate in cross-functional committees designed to enhance overall governance compliance program development and continuous process improvements.

  • Keep up to date with changes in regulations, governance, and best practices. Assist the Sr Cyber Security Manager in developing, reviewing, and updating testing procedures and templates to ensure any changes in regulations, governance, or best practices are reflected and incorporated into testing.

  • Assist with entity level controls and specific security controls testing.

  • Maintain professional certifications and related educational requirements as well as other duties assigned by the Sr Cyber Security Manager .

  • For business continuity planning, provide consulting, knowledge, and expertise as a subject matter expert to all business units.

  • Ensuring the effective and timely completion of required annual security audits and assessments.

  • Providing informed recommendations and leading independent audits and assessments to improve operations and manage risks related to highly complex technology and business processes.

  • Developing, maintaining, and/or enhancing personal knowledge and expertise of the following:

  • Internal auditing concepts, approaches, tools, and techniques.

  • Security controls and detection development and enforcement.

  • Technical knowledge of new and existing technology that support business operations.

  • Current knowledge of IT standards, frameworks, and best practices.

  • Current knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance standards, requirements, and frameworks.

  • Awareness of evolving IT industry trends and emerging threats such as ransomware, cloud computing and storage, mobile device management, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Business Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, etc.) or equivalent combined technical and professional experience.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cybersecurity or related field (i.e., auditing, system administration, application development, network, computer systems administrator , service desk support, etc.).

  • Experience creating presentations and confidence presenting in front of large and small groups.

  • Knowledge of internal auditing concepts, approaches, tools and techniques and IT control systems.

  • Kowledge of risk assessment and risk management concepts and methodologies.

  • Thorough knowledge of IT standards, frameworks, and best practices such as the ISO 27001/27002, NIST or MITRE Attack.

  • Ability to formulate operational requirements, including policy development to rationalize and support the activities.

  • Thorough knowledge of multiple technology platform environments such as Windows, MacOS, Linux, VMs, etc.

  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences succinctly and clearly to articulate concerns to IT and Business partners.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking, problem solving skills to problem sets.

  • Ability to make sound judgments/conclusions based on knowledge, experience, observations, and available information.

  • Planning, organization, and time management skills are required.

  • Written and verbal communication skills with both technical experts and senior level management.

  • Intermediate knowledge of IT applications, databases and/or operating systems across multiple platforms
