Eastman Plant Management - Director in Santo Toribio, Mexico

Responsibilities

The Site Manager is the general manager for all site activities. As a result, they are the “face” of the company to site employees and the local community. In addition, the Site Manager is the champion for the site during interactions with corporate functions and business organizations. The Site Manager ensures that the site is staffed with the appropriate resources necessary to achieve safe and reliable operations that fulfill business needs. This includes staying in compliance with corporate health, safety, environment and security policies. To accomplish these challenges, the site manager is responsible for attracting, retaining and developing an engaged workforce. Finally, they set the tone for the work culture by role modeling the Eastman Advantage and expecting all employees to do likewise.

Responsibilities:

  • Models Eastman core values and creates a culture with Zero-Incident mindset and performance excellence.

  • Drive a Zero-Incident Mindset culture, including strong process and personal safety.

  • Strong Quality and Customer focus and ability to drive quality culture to all levels.

  • Champion and implement change projects and processes that support continuous improvement utilizing OE tools and principles.

  • Develop and drive a multi-year operational strategy to include investment needs, staffing, asset strategy in alignment with the company strategy.

  • Understand the business and proactively build situational assessments with well thought out, integrated options for progressing the manufacturing elements of the business and overall business strategy.

  • Ability to prioritize and allocate resources as needed to execute a balanced improvement plan (safety, cost, quality, productivity etc.).

  • Interact, communicate and engage openly and effectively with all employees at the site as the "face" of the company. Be a visible and available leader that builds confidence and trust.

  • Leverage people resources by implementing and supporting processes that enable employees to realize their full productive potential, meet organizational needs and support the individual’s personal development.

  • Execute talent management to attract, engage, retain and develop high performing team members

  • Well networked. Solid partnerships with support functions (Commercial, Technology, Supply Chain, HR etc.) leadership to ensure business objectives are understood and initiatives are aligned and prioritized.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar technical degree

  • Minimum 15 years of experience with manufacturing experience, preferably in Chemical Manufacturing.

  • Deep supervisory experience in an operating department, multiple departments a plus

  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles, accounting practices, reports and budgets.

  • Detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and operating procedures

  • Understanding of product specifications and their relationship to customer fitness-for-use requirements

  • Detailed knowledge of the workplace and environmental laws applicable to the Department

  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental safety and health policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations as they relate to compliance

  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and other quality management tools and systems•

  • Basic knowledge of contractual agreements, license agreements, and intellectual property management

  • Knowledge of skills required to be a Coach; Leadership, Communication, Team Development, Personal Development, Boundary Management

  • Strong Communication skills, Public speaking, Media training. English and Spanish proficiency.

  • Proven track record of delivering results in the Operational Disciplines (e.g. Fundamentals of Process management, Quality management, Reliability, and Housekeeping).
