Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up breakthrough electric vehicles. By joining the best software, engineering, design and UX talent, you will be a part of creating new technologies and concepts that can be applied across the Ford enterprise. Being on the EVDD team means building the future as Ford’s center of innovation and growth through electric and connected vehicles and services.

The LV Electrical Engineer Digital Design will contribute to the electrical reliability of an emerging platform. The successful candidate will be involved in the full product lifecycle from design and testing to launch and beyond, bringing the vehicle features to life.

  • Work with cross domain function owners to capture requirements and define electrical interfaces

  • Design electronic control units to drive vehicle interfaces

  • Define execute and document circuit level bench testing of electronic hardware

  • Define and execute and document robustness and reliability validation of electronic components

  • Document circuit level analysis and functional safety work products (DFMEA, FMEDA, WCCA, etc )

  • Support the system integration team to root cause electrical interfaces on test benches and vehicles

  • Domestic and international travel up to 25%

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similar program

  • One year designing electronic hardware in an automotive environment

  • Three years designing electronic hardware in professional environment

  • Experience with high voltage and low voltage systems of an electric vehicle

  • Clear oral and written communication skills

  • Experience working with cross functional teams consisting of multi-disciplinary experts delivering a product

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, etc)

  • Experience designing with high speed interfaces (PCIe, USB 3, DDR 4, etc)

  • Experience with ISO-26262-5 development process

  • Experience launching products related to a production scale electric vehicle
