Actalent CNC Programmer Tooling Engineer in Santa Clarita, California
Job Title: CNC Programmer Tooling EngineerJob Description
Responsible for the conception and design of dies, fixtures, and essential production aids and templates as required to support manufacturing efforts.
Hard Skills
Design and build tooling to meet fabrication needs
Maintain digital/electronic data
Program and operate CNC equipment
Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimension and configuration of cuts
Select cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates
Evaluate tool designs and coordinate with engineering for changes
Analyze and design machine holding fixtures for parts
Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures
Prepare geometric layout using MasterCAM software
Write instruction sheets, check sheets, and cutter lists
Write programs for multi-axis CNC milling machines/routers
Resolve CNC program and manufacturing issues with all relevant departments
Perform cost analysis and tradeoff improvement studies
Create operation sheets, tool drawings, and detail drawings
Soft Skills
Support manufacturing and other departments as an internal customer
Work effectively within a small office team and a larger manufacturing floor team
Adaptability to work on the manufacturing floor and in the office

Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Santa Clarita, California.
Work Environment
Will work with the manufacturing floor, requiring flexibility to move between the office for design work and the floor to ensure tooling is functioning properly. The team is small in the office but tight-knit, with many colleagues on the manufacturing floor.
