As the Vice President of Engineering, you will be responsible for building innovative reusable web modules and services that are integral to all major applications used by ServiceNow customers. You will lead the UX/UI engineering teams and be responsible for shaping customer interactions and creating modern, easy to use interfaces. Your leadership will be pivotal in leading our organization towards innovative solutions and elevated user experiences.

Your role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Application Engineering, Quality Engineering, Design, Program Management, and Customer Support, to develop technical solutions to meet customer needs and market trends. Through strategic planning and execution, you will lead engineering teams with a mindset of continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation, and engineering excellence.

As the VP of Engineering, you will play a transformative role in spearheading and shaping the future direction, driving customer and developer satisfaction, and creating easy to use interfaces for our customers.

Responsibilities

Build strong teams and culture: Grow and guide the team of talented engineers. Foster a culture of excellence in engineering and continuous learning. Lead the team effectively and maintain high levels of trust and morale. Tap into the full range of knowledge and experience from other team members.

Technical Leadership: Lead the engineering teams with technical proficiency, hands-on approach and strong execution paradigms. Ensure that delivery targets are achieved and that execution methods are agile, streamlined, and scalable.

Cross-functional Collaboration : Work closely with the Product team and other key stakeholders to bring the technical aspects of the product vision to life, translating these insights into a cohesive and actionable engineering strategy. Foster cohesion among teams by aligning them with a common vision for the future.

Engineering Excellence : Set and maintain high engineering standards and processes that cover coding conventions, code reviews, version control, build methodologies, testing, and operations. Drive the team towards ongoing improvements in code quality, system reliability, and performance.

Metrics: Create and monitor essential performance metrics for the engineering team that align with company goals. Provide regular reports to the executive team regarding feature development progress and other significant metrics.

Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation and ongoing improvement, inspiring exploration of new technologies and methods that can enhance our products and team productivity.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Extensive experience in UX engineering, web development, and front-end technologies.

Proven track record of leadership experience in a fast-paced software development environment.

Deep understanding of accessibility standards, guidelines, and experience implementing accessible UI components.

Strong knowledge of web performance optimization techniques.

Passion for technology, user experience, and driving innovation in software development.

For positions in the Bay Area, we offer a base pay of $274,100 - $465,900, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs (subject to eligibility requirements). Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located, and is subject to change based on work location.
