Nvidia Documentation Tools and Automation Engineer in Santa Clara, California
NVIDIA is looking for a diligent and meticulous Technical Documentation Engineer to coordinate the development and implementation of our technical documentation strategy for Automotive. In this role, you will lead all aspects of the documentation lifecycle, from infrastructure to publication and maintenance.
Are you passionate about crafting high-quality technical documentation that is usable, navigable, and complete? Are you experienced with modern software development environments and the needs of automotive and/or embedded developers? Do you have experience defining processes and workflows for crafting and maintaining technical documentation? If so, we are looking for you to join our team! You will be responsible for the infrastructure for the technical documentation of the DriveOS Automotive Platform, including Developer Guides, API References, Safety Manuals assessed for ISO26262 compliance, Cybersecurity Manuals assessed for ISO21434 compliance, and other documentation. You will be working across multiple platforms, including Linux, QNX, and Android, as well as supporting Windows and MacOS authoring platforms.
What You'll Be Doing:
Develop and implement a comprehensive technical documentation strategy aligned with platform and company goals, based on GitLab, Sphinx, and reStructuredText.
Lead and collaborate with a team of technical writers and subject matter experts.
Define documentation requirements, project scope, timelines, and deliverables for Automotive documentation projects.
Manage the review, approval, and quality assurance process for all technical documents.
Define and track documentation metrics to show improvements in delivery, quality, usability, navigability, and completeness.
Track and analyze user feedback on documentation infrastructure and implement improvements.
Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in technical writing.
What We Need To See:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience).
Proficient in Git/GitLab for version control and collaboration on technical documentation.
Experience with Sphinx for generating structured documentation from reStructuredText (rST) sources (and/or Latex/Markdown).
Knowledge of reStructuredText (rST) syntax (and/or Markdown) and how to write and structure documentation effectively in a “docs as code” environment.
Solid experience with Python, especially in the context of automation, documentation generation, and integration.
Experience crafting and implementing automation workflows for documentation processes to streamline content updates, deployment, and version control.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitLab CI for automating documentation builds and deployments.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical environment, preferably in Automotive or embedded.
Proven experience in developing and implementing documentation strategies and infrastructure.
Strong understanding of the technical writing lifecycle.
Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd:
Experience crafting API documentation, user manuals, installation guides, and other technical documentation deliverables.
Knowledge of techniques for reviewing, validating, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of technical documentation.
An understanding of the Automotive Industry and relevant documentation practices.
Experience with documentation requirements for ISO26262 Functional Safety and ISO21434 Cybersecurity standards.
Experience working with Doxygen and with DITA.

The base salary range is 132,000 USD - 258,750 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
