Southern California Edison Engineering Manager of Project Coordination in Santa Ana, California

Become a(n) Engineering Manager of Project Coordination at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll lead a team responsible for managing, forecasting, and tracking work across the broader Distribution Engineering Organization. This work will ensure that work flowing through Distribution Engineering is timely received by our business partners, enabling SCE to meet broader company objectives. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in the development and utilization of key metrics to influence optimal decision-making related to resources, which will help achieve the Integrated Grid Planning and Execution (IGPE) work scoping objectives. This includes overseeing the development of appropriate documentation (e.g., scoping guidelines) and training to ensure that grid needs are addressed in alignment with the strategy, operational considerations, and financial boundaries. Responsibilities

  • Leads a select set of engineering and business initiatives to develop grid strategies, determine how the grid is planned, designed, operated, and maintained to operationalize company's strategy

  • Develops and maintains a project portfolio management system to prioritize projects, allocate resources, and monitor performance

  • Evaluates new technologies and methodologies to enhance project efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability, designing and implementing improvement projects and new systems to support site initiatives and improve operational efficiency

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with external partners, vendors, and contractors to support project delivery and innovation

  • Coaches engineering teams on professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge

  • Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy, technology and safety program to ensure company advancement toward future vision and the well-being of employees and contractors involved in engineering projects

  • Manages the engineering team that provides emergent and routine trouble-shooting support for plant technical needs. Manages various contract engineers and works with those individuals to ensure consistency and quality in design, delivery milestone dates, and cost

  • Leads the design and implementation of new equipment and cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability, and throughput

  • Develops goals for engineering team and assigns projects/roles to employees that translate Sr. Manager levels goals into actionable tasks

  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or Business related field

  • Five or more years of Distribution Engineering, system planning, or project planning experience

  • Five or more years of electric utility experience

  • Knowledge of electric utility distribution equipment, capital planning, and operations

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
