Controls Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced PLC Field Technician II, an advanced industrial electrical technician. The ideal candidate will be proficient in control systems concepts and will efficiently support troubleshooting and commissioning with Integration Engineers at client sites. This role requires the ability to work independently, handle high-pressure situations, and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers to ensure the smooth completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites to troubleshoot and commission control systems.

  • Work independently and efficiently on troubleshooting and commissioning tasks using PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff.

  • Assist lead Integration Engineers and communicate effectively with project stakeholders.

  • Perform basic PLC programming and assist in maintaining a functional workspace.

  • Occasionally wire panels or perform other manufacturing tasks.

  • Work in varying environments, including hot, cold, and dirty conditions.

  • Ascend ladders, navigate obstacles, operate in low light, and maneuver through confined spaces.

Essential Skills

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting background .

  • Ability to read electrical schematics, troubleshoot issues, and produce electrical prints in design.

  • Experience creating control panels from electrical prints or schematics.

  • Familiarity with PLC controls, troubleshooting, and editing.

  • At least 2 years of experience in the industrial automation or processing automation industries.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or AS Degree with equivalent applied experience.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations.

  • Ability to drive personal, company, and rental vehicles with a clean driving record and maintain required auto insurance liability coverage.

  • Willingness to work non-standard hours (nights and weekends).

  • Ability to travel locally with little or no notice.

  • Ability to pass initial and random drug screenings and both internal and TSA level background checks.

  • Professional demeanor and appearance.

Work Environment

The work environment may include airports, entertainment venues, manufacturing spaces, or our internal Panel Shop. Tasks range from basic PLC programming to assisting in maintaining the facility. The position involves working in often hot, cold, and dirty environments, with physical requirements such as ascending ladders, navigating obstacles, operating in low light, and maneuvering through confined spaces. The role includes both day and night shifts and requires up to 70% travel depending on the project.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.50
