General Description
SUNY Niagara is seeking applications for Nursing Tutors to hold tutoring sessions on Tuesday and Thursday around nursing lecture times. Content areas include; Fundamentals, Pediatrics, Cardiac and Respiratory, Ortho/Neuro.
Paid orientation and observation of lecture content weekly will be provided. Individuals with current tutoring and/or teaching experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Typical Work Activities
Professional Tutors with a strong background in Nursing will be responsible for:
Assisting students with Fundamentals, Pediatrics, Cardiac and Respiratory and Orho/Neuro, courses .
Convey concepts in multiple ways for a variety of learning styles.
Essential Functions
Ability to be friendly and welcoming to all students seeking services; excellent communication skills
Ability to use computer hardware and software programs related to discipline area and tutoring appointments.
Ability to work individually and in a team environment
Ability to multitask and tutor individuals or small groups of students at once
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
Ability to use appropriate learning techniques/strategies to achieve learning outcomes.
Ability to communicate and work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations; strong interpersonal skills
Ability to follow instructions from supervisor or other faculty
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing;
Recent acute care experience within the past 5 years.
Desirable Qualifications
Master’s degree with a major in Nursing or enrolled in a MSN program.
Teaching experience.
