General Description

SUNY Niagara is thrilled to announce the launch of our new flight school that is taking off in the Fall of 2024. Nestled between the world-famous Niagara Falls and the vibrant city of Buffalo, NY, our college is committed to providing exceptional education and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for both students and staff.

We are actively seeking a seasoned Aviation Program Administrator to play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our Professional Pilot program. This position will be housed in the Division of Business & STEM of the college. This position will be responsible for supporting program faculty and students throughout the year. Will also be responsible for attending meetings and participating in committees on campus as well. The Program Administrator will work closely with affiliated flight schools in the WNY region and travel may be required.

The program will be offered at SUNY Niagara’s main campus located in Sanborn, NY and at approved flight school locations.

The start date of this position will be late Summer 2024 for preparation for the start of the Fall 2024 Semester.

Typical Work Activities

  • Student advisement: the program administrator will advise prospective students on program requirements, assist with recruitment activities, provide ongoing advisement to continuing students, and support post-graduation transfer and placement.

  • Participate on college standing committees

  • Participate in continuous assessment and improvement of the program and student learning outcomes;

  • Maintains proper inventory controls for program materials and coordinates all purchasing;

  • Assists in curriculum development.

  • Utilize enrollment data to ensure optimal class scheduling based on trends

  • Assist with student communications to ensure that students are informed about program developments;

  • Assists with accreditation and licensure needs as required by the program;

  • Coordinates student course schedules with flight school partners;

  • Coordinates communication with students via Brightspace or other college tools;

  • Other duties as assigned

    Essential Functions

Must be able to navigate relationships with members of diverse populations; Must be able to coordinate numerous tasks and projects simultaneously; must possess good organizational skills; must possess and have proven excellent customer service skills; must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and students both verbally and in writing; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions; ability to operate computers; ability to prepare written reports; must have the capability to travel during the work day; must be able to work evenings and weekends as required; must have the ability to physically perform the functions of the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree (2-Year Degree)

  • FAA Commercial or ATP Certificate

  • FAA Basic Medical Certificate

    Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in Aviation, Physics, or related field.

  • FAA 3rd class medical

  • Certified Flight Instructor ( CFI , CFII )

  • Multi-Engine Instructor ( MEI )

  • Community College teaching experience

    License(s)/Certifications

  • FAA Commercial or ATP certificate (Required),

  • Certified Flight Instructor ( CFI , CFII Preferred),

  • Multi-Engine Instructor ( MEI Preferred)
