General Description:

The purpose of this position is to be responsible for key aspects of the company’s (Valent USA’s) cost accounting functions, including period-end closing, financial reporting and audits. This role interfaces with multiple functional groups, including managers/leaders across the organization and is considered a key liaison for the accounting department as well as across Finance.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end closing responsibilities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, manufacturing variance analysis, and inventory reporting. Identifies and reports any anomalies or trends. Perform standard and in-depth cost rolls on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods requested by Valent USA’s Supply Chain Team

  • Produce all internal and external inventory and cost accounting related financial reports, and ad-hoc projects/requests

  • Support business with costing, margin, and other analysis

  • Prepare schedules, conduct research and answer internal and external auditor questions timely

  • Help drive working capital reduction

  • Leverage SAP capabilities and functionality for Cost Accounting refinement, innovation and automation to maximize efficiency.

  • Evaluate, identify and implement process improvements on inventory and cost management desktop procedures

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, cost accounting and inventory experience preferred.

  • Great financial analytical skills, capable of dealing with huge data set.

  • Great attention to detail, and thorough in work products/initiatives

  • Shows continuous improvement mindset as a self-starter, and good problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate as a team.

  • Advanced SAP experience preferred,

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.

  • SOX/J-SOX experience preferred.

  • Frequency Definitions: Constant = Over 40% / Frequent = Up to 40% / Occasional = Up to 10%
