Eaton Corporation SCM Operations Buyer in San Luis Potosi, Mexico

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a SCM Operations Buyer.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This position will focus on MG (Truck & Aftermarket) purchases from major suppliers, contracts, strategic commodities, including uninterrupted supply leading after markets, outside process, remanufacturing, heat treat & other assigned commodities. This position will interact with multiple locations and manage assigned commodities to ensure uninterrupted supply at optimum cost and quality. They will participate and manage the MGNA commodities with semi-annual strategic updates to Senior Leaders. In addition, this position will manage aftermarket suppliers, costs outs, bankruptcies, transfers and new supplier sourcing. This position will maintain an essential balance between supplier quality, delivery expectations, and cost reduction metrics. In addition, this position will be responsible to generate and achieve the annual cost out goals for MGNA set in Profit Plans. This position will require travel to suppliers, customers and strategic commodity strategy meetings.

This position will also focus on Mobility Group North America (MGNA) operational buyer activities, purchases and programs related to the commodities above for all 13 manufacturing (% majority will be Truck sites, KM, SLP, ELC and SB) sites as well as all warehousing sites in MX and US. This position will require expertise coordinating plant operations, system and supplier’s solutions including but not limited to understanding operational excellence, Oracle R12 purchasing expertise, Oracle ERP including supplier set-up, P.O. transactions, receipts, invoices, payments, resolve invoices holds, resolutions, interface errors, Wisper, QlikView, Markview, Supplier Viz. ISupplier and Enovia for MGNA. This position will outline the process to successfully coordinating and managing all key interfaces to resolve DMR’s, 8D’s, delivery issues and facilitate communications between parties, including conflict resolution. Promote clear and consistent communication among the involved project team members for transmitting interface information. #LI-DG2

What you'll do:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage commodity and operational supply chain activities including sourcing councils, commodity strategies, supplier relationships, quotes, engineering changes and opportunities for cost out and product/supplier improvement, while ensuring production, delivery, and capacity requirements for all commodities in all MGNA facilities.

  • Apply skillful negotiations with internal and external suppliers; conducts problem resolution and settles disputes; develops win/win solutions and creates positive relations with tact and expert judgment.

  • Develop and help facilitate process to manage engineering part changes, supplier requirements and new part requirements for the commodity.

  • Manage all assigned current production supplier contacts, business relationships and supports commercial responsibilities for the assigned commodity base.

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration of operational team members to achieve the greatest outcomes in support of the MGNA Business Units.

  • Facilitate supplier questions on accounts payables and supports any necessary activity for disposition of invoice resolutions and/or payment issues.

  • Possess expert knowledge and applicable skills in the supply chain process; and is recognized as an expert in most operational activities to support the manufacturing facilities.

  • Comply with established SCM policies and procedures and support continuous improvement of EBE processes for SCM Commodity Purchasing.

  • Provide a system which will facilitate the identification of interfaces, and address the specific interface request requirements in Oracle, Wisper, SSC and Enovia.

  • Establish a procedure that promotes efficient management of interface issues from initiation to close out to maintain operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

Education and Skills required to meet position qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree. Preferred in supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering or general business

• 4-6 years of experience in Supply Chain Experience: Materials planning, updating purchasing orders, pending invoices.

• 25% Traveling availability

Preferred/Additional Specialized Knowledge (not required to be qualified for position):

• Experience with SCM Program and Commodity Management functions.

• Experience with global sourcing and supply base management.

• Strong Communication and Presentation Skills

• Knowledge and skills in MRP, JIT, Six Sigma, Lean Mfg., Kan Ban, Vendor Managed Inventory

• Lead Commodity and Operational Excellence: Shows experience in commodity management processes; extensive knowledge of commodity/operational purchasing, executing effective supply chain best practices; supports and leads cross functional problem resolution and business improvements; and leads other buyers in standard processes.

• Market and Customer Knowledge: Learns how to investigate and analyze customer base and requirements to fully understand the impact of purchasing and supplier management strategies.

• Product/Process Development & Launch: Understands product and proposed manufacturing processes with the objective of a flawless launch of new products in the supply base.

• Project Management: Understands knowledge of processes necessary to plan, organize, execute, and manage projects to complete complex tasks on time and on budget.

• Negotiation: Applies sound knowledge of negotiating strategies with suppliers; and can apply strategies in the development of agreements to support total business requirements rather than just lowest-price options.

• Contract Management: Possesses sound knowledge of solid and consistent architecture of supply chain contracts and agreements including terms, timing, and language. Shows ability to comprehend complex business unit and/or customer requirements to help shape contracts and negotiations.

• Supplier Selection & Collaboration: Understands the critical stages in the sourcing process; possesses knowledge of how to evaluate competitive alternatives and conduct supplier performance reviews.

• Total Cost Management: Is knowledgeable on how to gather and develop spend information; supports spend profile to drive savings and cost out opportunities year over year.

• Material Materials Planning & Management: Understands forecasting, demand planning, scheduling and inventory management tools and concepts necessary to manage supplier relationships and commodities.

• P&L Contribution: Understands financial, business and operational processes to analyze impact of multiple sourcing and supply chain variables on business outcomes.

• Continuous Process Improvement: Possesses sound knowledge of continuous improvement tools and practices, such kaizen and lean, to help drive opportunities to eliminate waste and improve performance.
