At Guy F. Atkinson Construction (Atkinson Construction) many of our most valued employees work in the field and are members of various labor unions. As a union contractor, we work on a referral process from the local union halls for the hiring of all craft workers.
All Laborer (Apprentice, Journeyman, Foreman, and General Foreman) tasks involve physical labor on construction jobsites; may operate hand and/or power tools as needed; may prepare site and assist with other duties as assigned.
Laborer (Apprentice, Journeyman, Foreman, and General Foreman) responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Group 1: demotion, flagman, general, construction or cleanup, or traffic control.
Group 2: chute man or concrete curer.
Group 3: compactor or pipelayer's backup man.
Group 4: pipelayer or traffic lane closure (certified).
Additionally, the Laborer Foreman will supervise, coordinate and schedule a crew of Laborers.
