FirstBank Puerto Rico Senior Commercial Credit Analyst in San Juan, Puerto Rico

A Brief OverviewThe Senior Commercial Credit Analyst examines complex new and renewal loans and executes account management tasks (including portfolio management projects and quarterly covenant checks) with the objective to originate and sustain profitable and good asset quality commercial loans assigned. Must regularly conduct account management functions to ensure commercial loan agreements are adhere to and that economic solvency of clients is maintained to meet contractual obligations. Generates underwriting and account management reports; performs periodic and annual reviews of assigned accounts to monitor risk rating, delinquency, and compliance with covenants, as well as adherence to Federal Regulations and Bank Commercial Credit Policies.What you will do•Timely renders financial statement analysis and structures credit requests for new and existing customers within established commercial credit policies utilizing Moodys, among other software tools.•Prepares credit application memorandums (CAMs), incorporating above and further financial statement analysis (including projections and sensitivity analysis) with corresponding attachments, to accurately present commercial loan credit risks and provide applicable recommendations.•Assists the Loan Portfolio Manager in the review of Credit Analysts underwriting tasks, as well as the timely execution of loan portfolio monitoring responsibilities including: covenant compliance checks, borrowing base review, periodic financial statement review, risk rating analysis, overdrafts and account usage, periodic review of collateral and documentation, audit report assessments, customer and collateral site visits. Documents referenced credit administration tasks in CAMS, 360, High Priority Reports, Call Reports and memos as warranted.•Monitors collaterals periodically to detect any loss in value, monitors collateral exceptions and follows up on pending items. Involves real estate and machinery and equipment appraisal review analysis, business valuation analysis, as well as analysis of other collateral types (such as commercial vessels, aircraft and specialized machinery and equipment).•Monitors delinquency reports and follows up on collections efforts if need be, in conjunction with the Bank Reporting Specialists (BRSs). Establishes the appropriate remedial attention levels and defines action plan in collaboration with the Business Relations Officers and Corporate / Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager.•Assists the Corporate / Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager in the generation of industry analysis reports, as well as other Treasury and/or Credit Risk Appetite reports commissioned from time to time by the Credit Committee or BOD.•Works closely with Business Relations Officers and Relationship Officers in garnishing documentation needed for loan closing.•Monitors compliance with Bank policies and practices, as well as regulatory requirements, in order to achieve satisfactory rating from internal and external auditors.•Maintains loan portfolio data and industry statistics updated for Loan Portfolio Manager.•Follows up to assure compliance with Department’s quarterly/annual review schedule and other reporting requirements.•Assists in the preparation of managerial presentations and special projects.•Train and review work of junior commercial credit analysts.Qualifications•Bachelor's Degree Business Administration in Finance or Accounting, required•Master Degree Business Administration in Finance or Accounting, preferred•6 - 7 years More than as a commercial credit analyst, preferably in a commercial bank or investment bank. This experience must include commercial loan structuring within an array of industries, asset/enterprise valuation, financial modeling and projections. •Strong problem recognition and solutions skills•Banking computer software proficiency (CL, Microsoft Office, Moodys)•Knowledge of commercial credit policy•Fluent verbal and written language of English and Spanish•Team work oriented•Strong logical and analytics capacity•Endurance given may be required to work extended hours, including holidays should these coincide with commercial loan transactional deadlines•Strong interpersonal communication skills•Leadership Skills
