Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico REPAIR & MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST in San Juan, Puerto Rico

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Plan, direct, or coordinate repair and maintenance of facilities and buildings.

It is responsible to manage the allocated budget to attend the club’s maintenance needs. Carry out actions to prevent deterioration, damage, breakdown, malfunction or non-conforming, physical aspect of the units, which keep the elements and facilities in optimal conditions. Coordinates with agencies, municipalities repairing, and constructions of buildings and maintains relations with the public housing managers. Responsible to perform preventive maintenance plans. Deliver monthly inspections of all the units to identify situations or problems that might affect the operations and/or physical facilities, and the completion with the regulations expectations. Manages and reports the active inventory and performs the process to seize.

TASKS AND ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • V isit all Clubs to identify situations and repair them in priority order.

  • Perform construction work such as; installation of floors, installation of walls (blocks, Gypsum board and wood), masonry, plumbing, basic electricity.

  • Manage materials purchase lists for repairs.

  • Conduct repair and maintenance work in all areas of the Clubs, in order to maintain a safe and attractive place for participants.

  • Repair locks, doors, windows, floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, receptacles, switches, sinks, mixers, exterior cleaning, painting, etc.

  • Maintain daily contact with Club staff and supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss situations, explain guides and instructions, and offer advice.

  • Follow the health and safety measures related to your daily work.

  • Will do any other task assigned by the immediate supervisor.

    EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma.

  • Certified in type 1 heavy vehicles, category 6.

  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

  • Building and Construction — Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.

  • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material — Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

  • Getting Information — Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.

  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work — Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.

  • Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment — Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles.

  • Repairing and Maintaining Electronic Equipment — Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

  • Controlling Machines and Processes — Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).

  • Handling and Moving Objects — Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.

  • Performing General Physical Activities — Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Normal internal office environment with some travel to Club locations across Puerto Rico. Availability to engage funders on evenings and weekends are a core part of this position. Frequent internal contacts with employees throughout organization required. Drive for more than three consecutive ours. Require handling chemicals that could include paint, cleaning products, and construction materials.
