Job Summary

This position reports to the AVP, Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management as a member of the SJSU IT Leadership Team. The incumbent assists the AVP in strategic planning, annual planning, operational excellence, business operations and human resources related activities while working in collaboration with leaders in IT to support the diversity and inclusion strategies.

The incumbent is responsible for the overall project and portfolio management function by providing leadership, coordination, and management of the PMO & Business operation processes and functions. Directs and manages the day-to-day operations of the PMO & Business operations teams including budget management. This position is also responsible for marketing SJSU IT strategies encompassing all available channels including traditional PR, digital communications and more and oversees the technical writing function. A critical success factor for this role is to establish trusted business relationships across SJSU IT, ensuring there is alignment between the strategies, goals and direction of the university and of IT.

This position serves as a member of the SJSU-IT Leadership Team and works in collaboration with leaders in SJSU-IT to support budget planning and management, identifying and prioritizing technology-driven ideas across the ecosystem, as well as leading process improvement efforts across campus by leveraging technology and continuously advancing toward future technological directions.

  • Strong leadership skills and outstanding negotiating, influencing, consensus-building and conflict resolution skill

  • Excellent understanding of process management, standards creation and implementation, standards documentation and measurement

  • Skills in Information Technology strategic planning

  • Strong ability in IT budget management

  • In depth knowledge in IT strategic planning, annual planning and service planning

  • Skilled in managing initiatives or programs to promote diversity and inclusion in a large organization

  • Strong knowledge of Program Management principles, practices, and procedures

  • Ability to lead and manage program and change implementations in alignment with IT best practices

  • Ability to effectively manage performance, engage team members, provide coaching, champion growth and respond to situations affecting staff

  • Knowledge of agile software development methodologies and productivity tools (e.g. JIRA)

  • Strong skills in implementing technology solutions to support compliance requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field

  • Seven (7) years of progressive experience in IT management; Five (5) years of relevant experience in leading IT PMO and budget management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in leading IT strategic & budget planning

  • Experience in managing IT communication and marketing

Compensation

Classification: Administrator III

CSU Salary Range: $6,563/month - $21,066/month
