Sonos Inc. Senior Software Technical Product Owner in San Francisco, California

Sonos is seeking a Software Technical Product Owner to join the newly formed Portables Category, Embedded Systems Team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the software development of new products and features by enacting the vision and direction defined in the product roadmap. As a subject-matter expert, you will use your technical knowledge to bridge the gap between product management and technical engineers by translating customer requirements to system requirements and setting technical direction. You will collaborate closely with product managers, product creation leads, user experience designers, software developers, external vendors, and other stakeholders across the organization to deliver on the product vision. This role is hybrid requiring in-office time of 1 to 2 times a week. Qualified candidates must currently live within commuting distance of our Boston or San Francisco office locations. What You'll Do: Participate in category roadmap discovery and planning meetings with category leadership and Product Managers. Translate customer vision and requirements to system requirements, epics, and user stories for implementation by engineering teams. Support the team in delivering value as the person who holds and communicates the full technical vision of a project, establishes milestones, develops and prioritizes the team backlog Know how and when to ship quality products and features. Work with engineering teams to keep programs moving forward using both qualitative and quantitative metrics to advance programs through the shipping cycle. Demonstrate a relentless sense of ownership for the success of a program. Act as the liaison between the cross-functional teams What You'll Need: Basic Qualifications BS or MS in EE, CS, CE, Mathematics, or related discipline 5+ years of relevant experience in embedded software development and leading high-performing teams Solid understanding of Bluetooth and/or WiFi fundamentals including Bluetooth Classic, Low Energy, LE audio, and WiFi/BT coexistence methods Track record of shipping reliable, extensible, and maintainable software programs using multiple development methodologies. Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience articulating technical concepts in cross-functional teams Ability to work with people with different cultures and backgrounds in different locations and time zones Preferred Qualifications: Experience with embedded Linux and real-time operating systems Embedded hardware design experience to understand constraints and challenges Exposure to acoustics Understanding of digital signal processing fundamentals such as sampling, dynamic range, digital filtering, fixed point vs floating point, optimizations of inner loops Demonstrated experience in audio and speech processing Experience in product development across multi-disciplinary technical teams using strong problem-solving skills. Capacity to communicate technical concepts, risks, and interdependent requirements clearly and effectively at all levels and translate them into actionable plans. Ability to quickly translate customer requirements into concrete software system functionality. Working knowledge of branch/merge strategies and code management.
