Jacobs Senior Construction Project Manager - Buildings in San Francisco, California

We’re seeking an experienced and collaborative Sr. Construction Project Manager to join our team in San Francisco, CA. Someone who can use their vast experience in the industry and apply it to today’s challenges.

Based at the client site in San Francisco, CA you will report directly to the Program Manager and will work alongside other Project and Construction Managers as well as Client project managers and facility operators. You will be responsible to work with the Client, Architect and General Contractor for the overall project delivery, including the management of multiple concurrent projects from conception through completion and thru the commissioning life cycle of the project in accordance with program objectives. You’ll be responsible for ensuring not only the progress and technical performance of a project, but also the material management, schedule, cost, scope and safety of the team.

The Senior Construction Project Manager's role is to constructively interact with the entire team to ensure that the facility meets the highest standards of safety, operability, maintainability, efficiency and operational readiness that are consistent with the project scope, schedule and budget. Your keen ability to multi-task, communicate effectively and tackle project challenges will allow you to thrive in our fast-paced environment. You’ll bring your expertise to solve complex problems, ensuring the success of our projects. The Senior Construction Project Manager will have expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, infrastructure, and engineering practices, and will also have experience on construction projects within laboratory environments, specifically spaces and projects that include the installation of laboratory equipment, such as electron microscopes, sterilizers/autoclaves, tunnel washers, etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for directly managing the safety, quality, and conformance of all project management scope on the construction project(s).

  • Provides constructability input

  • Supports preconstruction activities to ensure consistency with other projects.

  • Ensures field installation and value engineering in incorporated into the design process.

  • Validates that drawings and specifications accurately reflect the desired construction quality and scope.

  • If requested, Attend Factory Witness Tests and ensures all equipment performance is to specifications and approved shop drawings and submittals.

  • Manages equipment quality including review of Specifications, bid analysis, PO's, Submittals, freight/logistics, care/custody, protection, installation, startup, commissioning.

  • Establishes a positive working relationship with the project design and construction teams, both internal and external to the client organization. Establishes a clear line of communications between the Operations, Construction, and Commissioning teams, along with the proper protocols for issue identification and resolution.

  • Utilizes knowledge of operational best practices and the owner's project requirements to review the project documentation for potential pitfalls and opportunities for improvement.

  • Attends construction and commissioning meetings to keep abreast of project developments, to develop a detailed understanding of the facility design and operation, and to track program changes and their potential impact.

  • Observes key installation and test procedures to ensure conformance with project goals and to gather information for operational documentation and training.

  • Proactively works with Construction and Commissioning teams to ensure that required documents and information are delivered according to specifications and on time.

  • Performs periodic site inspections and reports any construction issues uncovered or conditions that could affect the operational reliability of the facility. This includes meeting participation to ensure smooth coordination and tracking of issue resolution.

  • Provides regular reports on project progress and issues.

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

• 12+ years' experience in managing construction or renovation projects, preferably in a research laboratory or similar environment.

• Advanced project management skills to effectively manage highly complex projects, or highly specialized and critical project components.

• Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, rules, regulations, policies and short and long range strategic building plans.

• Must have overall expertise within laboratory or higher education research environments, managing multiple concurrent projects through the development, procurement, design and construction phases utilizing industry best practices.

• Background in Lab or Medical environments and related construction and retrofit means and methods.

• Comprehension of critical-path schedule development, management of trade performance and productivity.

• Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

• Experience with the use of Oracle Unifier or other similar project management information system

Ideally, You’ll Also Have: 

• Experience in serving as an owner’s representative.

• Certified Construction Manager (CCM), CM-Lean, LCI-CPC, DBIA Professional, Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect license/certification
