QUEST Senior

QUEST is an interdisciplinary team of economists, statisticians, and business analysts that assists corporations, governments, and industry groups with a variety of sophisticated quantitative analyses. Our team provides clients in a wide range of industries and geographies with services related to policy-focused economic analysis, statistical sampling, survey design and implementation, and other quantitative analytics. QUEST also functions as one of EY's internal think tanks, providing analyses of important issues to inform our clients' business strategies. The opportunity

EY's QUEST practice is seeking a statistician to join our team of statisticians in Washington, D.C. As a member of the QUEST practice you will have the combination of deep quantitative knowledge and a sophisticated understanding of business drivers to serve clients' needs. Our people provide quantitative advisory services to private sector clients that support regulatory compliance, enhance business processes, and provide litigation support. Our services help organizations reduce the time, cost, and stress associated with dealing with large numbers of records and/or difficult data. Our sampling team has a wide variety of educational backgrounds, skills, and sampling experience. Many formerly worked at the IRS, and all are skilled in sampling for tax purposes and working with taxing authorities.

The QUEST practice has three service lines: economic policy analysis, statistical sampling and data analytics, and surveys. As a Senior, you will provide quantitative services in QUEST's statistical sampling and data analytics service line.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate staff with diverse skills and backgrounds

  • Perform statistical sampling, estimation, modeling, and data analytics

  • Analyze client data to develop efficient sample designs using design-based and model-based methods

  • Work directly with internal project teams and the client to devise the best quantitative approach

  • Assist in sample design, estimation work and provide technical guidance to project staff

Skills and attributes for success

  • Work on key client issues involving policy and regulatory issues, with a focus on enhancing client strategies that align with the client's business objectives through quantitative analysis

  • Develop tools to evaluate economic and fiscal implications of proposed policies and apply econometric methodologies to measure compliance with existing regulations

  • Provide qualitative and quantitative analysis of policy issues

  • Assisting in designing and implement quantitative and analytical software applications

  • Assist in developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve our clients' tax activities

  • Supervising a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Master's or Ph.D. in statistics or other quantitative discipline.

  • A minimum of 3 years of related work experience

  • Interest and ability to apply quantitative methods in a business environment

  • A commitment to teamwork and the ability to direct the work of other team members

  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent analytical and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a team environment and effectively meet deadlines

  • Computer skills, including familiarity with statistical programming and database management

  • Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $95,200 to $157,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $114,200 to $178,300. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
