About The Role

We are on the lookout for a Hardware Systems Engineer with a passion for innovation and a strong understanding of sensors and embedded systems. As a Hardware Systems Engineer at Cisco Meraki, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our hardware portfolio, playing a pivotal role in the conceptualization, development, and manufacturing of our Meraki Sensors (MT) products. You will be instrumental in the early stages of the product life cycle, focusing on proof-of-concept work, detailed design, engineering validation, and preparing the product for manufacturing. Your expertise will drive the success of our hardware programs, and you will act as a liaison with our partners in Taiwan to ensure seamless collaboration throughout the project duration.

* Please note: This position requires that you commute to a Bay area office (San Francisco, CA or San Jose, CA) 3 days per week and up to 15% travel to Taiwan. *

What You Will Do

  • Own the end-to-end hardware development process in a JDM model

  • Architect new sensor products, then supervise schematic, layout, and testing work

  • Optimize systems for cost, size, and energy consumption

  • Develop comprehensive test plans and acceptance criteria where none may exist

  • Engage with silicon partners to evaluate new technologies that could solve customer problems

  • Efficiently conduct proof-of-concept work to validate concepts and pitch ideas for products

  • Build and track hardware schedules through NPI

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working on hardware devices as an electrical engineer

  • Have taken multiple products through end-to-end development - the more, the better!

  • Technical program management skills

  • BS and/or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Experience working with Asia-based partners.

  • Able to travel up to 15% to Taiwan.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience building battery-powered hardware products that include a wireless radio

  • Specific sensor expertise
