The Opportunity:

The Chief of Staff (CoS) is primarily responsible for tackling the CEO’s most important priorities through the orchestration of activities owned by various leaders across the organization. They own the rhythm of the business for the Executive team. This role will also serve as the primary point of contact for all business units to navigate their departments and to get organizational priorities implemented. This is a highly visible and collaborative role that is instrumental to the success of the overall organization.

You Will:

  • Own planning and internal business operations for top management initiatives

  • Own key operational rhythms/processes (i.e. weekly e-team meetings, weekly business reviews, monthly business reviews), including preparing the agenda, facilitating the discussions, documenting notes/action items, and closing out follow-ups

  • Monitor all key programs and initiatives across the company to ensure rigorous, disciplined follow through

  • Maintain relationships with owners of all key initiatives and programs to ensure we are eliminating bottlenecks and bureaucracy

  • Over time, this role may direct a small, high performing team of biz ops team members in the Office of the CEO to provide additional resources for key initiatives and programs requiring additional support

  • Deliver against special projects important to our CEO and executive team that are not owned by any other team

  • Identify areas of improvement across the organization and make actionable recommendations

  • Act as a thought partner to Ryan and other leaders, proactively identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency

You Should Have:

  • A track record of success in a similar role (Chief of Staff, operations and/or programs leadership)

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and SQL

  • Adept ability to identify and solve problems across domains

  • Capable public speaker and presenter

  • Successful track record in stakeholder management across all levels

  • Willing to move to San Francisco starting immediately

  • Ready to grind! We work LONG hours at odd times of day

  • Availability to travel any time on short notice

More Details:

  • Planning and Internal business operations:

  • Manage internal rhythm of business activities: performance cycle, engagement surveys, planning activities, business reviews etc.

  • Track & manage key metrics for the CEO

  • Communication & Leadership development:

  • Facilitate senior leadership staff meetings

  • Work with Communications team to manage the production of All-Hands, hackathons and other company wide events

  • Manage/facilitate organizational restructure/redesign exercises

  • Organization of Leadership Offsites: agendas, organizing, facilitation

  • Leadership Development: talent assessment, leadership succession planning, identifying career development opportunities for leaders

  • Collaboration with other departments in the company:

  • Compile content for quarterly Board updates

  • Collaborate with Chiefs of Staff of other departments to solve cross functional issues

  • Collaborate within Internal Comms team for organization change communications

  • Collaborate with External Communications team for branding activities, CEO speaking engagements

  • Capability Development:

  • Incubate new ideas through pilots and proof of concepts by mission teams before handing off to a long term owner in the department

  • Solve internal problems or bottlenecks by working with leaders within their department

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range displayed, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and / or training.

The US base salary range for this position: (exclusive of bonus, equity and benefits.)

$175,000—$220,000 USD
