We’re looking for a strong Engineering Program Manager who will lead cross functional, large scale Natural Language Understanding technologies for Apple products, such as Siri. This individual needs a solid track record building and maintaining complex software and machine learning models, establishing and implementing evaluation process that ensure delightful end-to-end user experiences.
Description
In this role, you will: - Build and run project timelines with clear dependencies, critical path and systematic methodology to communicate status. - Handle risks and mitigations, and re-plan as events warrant. Drive alignment across the organization and between teams - Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to define human annotation requirements vital to launch and maintain premier Apple software products - Drive on time delivery and deployment, identifying development and feasibility needs, establishing achievements for checkpoints and status updates - Work with data science and data engineering teams to develop data collection and ML model evaluation solutions - Work with annotation operation teams to optimize and lead human data collection and evaluation efforts - Work with engineering, privacy, and legal teams to develop safe data collection - Work with research teams to develop long-term evaluation solutions
Minimum Qualifications
6+ years of experience in project or program management shipping products driven by machine-learned systems to worldwide users
Strong analytical skills and obsession for data, solid understanding of metrics measuring machine learning models and overall system quality; skilled at measuring impact from user experience standpoint
Detailed understanding of testing, build and release processes for sophisticated software
Demonstrated data-driven decision-making skills, including experience leading metrics-driven projects or programs.
Ability to communicate abstract ideas clearly and independently manage complex project objectives
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to independently draft and present deliverables, recommendations and communication strategies
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Have personally orchestrated the delivery of multiple significant client/server software products requiring large organizations (100+) to accomplish
Superior group facilitation, interviewing and influence skills
Prior PM or engineering experience in machine learning, natural language understanding or search
Knowledge in machine learning infrastructure and data pipeline, and/or model evaluation
M.S. or Ph.D. degree with a focus in machine learning, data mining or statistics

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $165,500 and $293,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
