WSP USA Vice President, Project Management Specialist in San Diego, California

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Part-Time Vice President, Project Management Specialist for our San Diego, CA office . Be involved in projects with our Energy Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Projects may span multiple disciplines including transportation, water and wastewater type projects. Project Management Specialist shall provide project management support, project scheduling, project coordination, project management, program management, risk analysis, and expert project management services on an "as needed" basis.

Your Impact

  • Leads, plans and coordinates with the project development team to ensure the project delivery of the planning, design and construction phases.

  • Addresses programming needs and facilitates the development of resource requirements for project delivery

  • Development and oversight of the project Workplan showing the approved baseline schedule and the actual progress schedule.

  • Manage and facilitate the development and engineering administration of the project from inception through completion of the construction contract.

  • Work with the Project Development Team in negotiating a Project Workplan for scope including engineering documents and contracts, schedule, and cost and monitoring actual against planned costs.

  • Help in identifying possible schedule or resource problems, functional workload peaks, or other conditions that may jeopardize project delivery.

  • Analyze the status of projects and recommend approval of functional input in the Workplan Status. Review project reports, agreements, and other technical reports for consistency and standards conformity.

  • Identify project conflicts and issues and use conflict resolution techniques in a timely manner and elevate issues if unable to resolve directly.

  • Shall assist in preparation of and update a comprehensive Critical Path Method (CPM) network diagram, Bar Chart, Schedule, Logic Network Schedule, and the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for each assignment showing a deliverables schedule, as well as other relevant data to monitor project progress. The relevant data shall include a list of activities with budgeted cost, milestones, and target date for completion of each activity.

  • Shall coordinate activities and work closely partnering with multiple stakeholders including, but not limited to, various functional units, other project managers, governmental and non-governmental agencies, utility companies, railroads, other agencies, other entities with an interest in the project, other consultants and other contractors.

  • Assists and coordinates with FHWA and other agencies to assess documents (e.g. Project Study Reports, Project Reports, Financial Plans, Environmental Documents, Plans Specification and Estimates and Change Orders).

  • Reviews Monthly Capital and Support Expenditure reports and other project documentation

  • Provides Inter-Agency Coordination

  • Participates as the Funding/Grant Liaison

  • Facilitates Alternative Delivery

  • Provides oversight to project activities with functional units proactively resolving team, resources allocations, capitol budget and schedule issues.

  • Coordinates and facilitates cooperative agreements with local agencies

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering-related field (e.g. Planning, Engineering, Environmental , etc.)

  • A minimum of 12 years of directly relevant experience, including Project Manager or related roles (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).

  • A working knowledge of applicable codes, standards and processes for project delivery

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Valid , current California Driver's license

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer, Planner Certification American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $146,700 - $226,050

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
