Department Summary:

Systems modeling and analysis is a crucial process in systems engineering that involves creating and integrating abstract models of complex systems to understand, analyze, and predict system behaviors under various conditions. It is fundamental in designing and improving systems across diverse domains, including engineering, software development, business process management, data management, and environmental studies. At MITRE, we leverage our deep multi-disciplinary engineering expertise to create and integrate abstract models of complex mission scenarios and systems to understand, analyze, and predict operational and functional behaviors under various conditions. These models can then be used to highlight critical gaps between mission needs and system performance, improving our sponsor decision making process. We advocate for and use a digital engineering approach to educate our sponsors about the benefits and importance of digital adoption to enhance the access, management, analysis, and distribution of critical engineering information from a common set of digital engineering artifacts over the course of the mission and/or systems life cycle.
