Technical Safety Services Senior Staff Accountant in San Diego, California

How will you make an impact?

The Senior Staff Accountant reports to our Assistant Controller and is critical for ensuring that compliance with GAAP is maintained through our financial reporting. This position will also assist in the acquisition and integration of new companies, covering full cycle accounting.  

What will you do?

  • Act as a leader within the staff accounting group, modeling best practices in balance sheet management. 

  • Maintain reports, records, and general ledger accounts for multiple companies. 

  • Prepare journal entries. 

  • Must have experience with complex balance sheet account reconciliations. 

  • Maintain and reconcile bank transactions.  

  • Assist with process optimization for month and year-end close. 

  • Review financial statements for accuracy in revenue and expense recognition as well as compliance with capital policy. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Salary range of $75,000 - $110,000 annually 

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with industry data.)

    How will you get here?

    Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or another related field. An advanced degree or CPA license is a plus. 

  • Requires 8 years of relevant experience in senior-level accounting or other relevant experience in public accounting, consulting, corporate strategy, and/or corporate development. 

  • A combination of education, experience and training may meet requirements. 

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 

  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and high attention to detail with a proven ability to manage and meet multiple competing deadlines. 

  • Team-oriented with a natural curiosity to understand and learn all areas of the business. 

  • Self-starter mentality, with a willingness to independently identify and solve problems. 

  • Advanced Excel skills and a proven track record of creating complex reports. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in matters of high sensitivity.
