The Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology Group in the Oncogenesis Thematic Research Center at BMS focuses on delivering novel cancer therapeutics by engaging E3 ubiquitin ligases for targeted protein degradation. We are seeking a motivated Senior Scientist with broad experience and deep understanding of the small-molecule drug discovery processes. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment to develop robust cellular assays, design and conduct in vitro studies to support discovery of small molecules as clinical development candidates. The desired candidate should have a strong analytical capability, excellent skills in assay development and data management. Responsibilities include developing relevant cellular models and assays in support of SAR, mechanism of action (MoA), biomarker selection, and testing therapeutic hypothesis. The candidate will work within discovery project teams with scientists across different functional areas and is expected to contribute to project based decisions.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Develop relevant cell-based and biochemical assays and in vitro models to support identification, optimization, and characterization of novel chemical matter
Lead efforts to support biology needs for different projects and drug discovery teams
Design and conduct critical experiments using expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, Biochemistry and assay development to support SAR and MoA studies.
Support SAR assay implementation and data management across different assay formats.
Analyze and present data in an organized and timely manner
Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Cell and Molecular Biology or a related field with 2 years of work experience or Master’s degree with at least 10 years or Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of work or experience
Extensive experience in molecular and cell biology with in-depth knowledge and training in cancer biology; previous experience in E3 ligase and UPS biology or protein homeostasis is a plus.
Hands-on experience in molecular and cellular technologies including, but not limited to, mammalian cell culture, quantitative PCR, bDNA, nanostring, immunofluorescence, and SDS-PAGE/Western blotting, ELISA, cell proliferation assays, and manipulation/editing of gene expression using RNAi and CRISPR
Data analysis skills and experience with a variety of scientific software applications are required.
Capability to pay attention to details, stay focused and deliver high quality data in a timely and well organized manner.
Highly motivated, great collaborative nature and organizational skills, excellent communication skills required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic team environment; flexibility to adapt to changes with a positive attitude.
Experience in small molecule drug discovery in an industrial setting is preferred.
