San Diego Padres Security Officer - Gallagher Square Rover in San Diego, California

We believe skills are transferable and passion for our mission goes a long way.  Your role as a Security Officer – Gallagher Square Rover:  You will monitor the activity at Petco Park, within Gallagher Square and the surrounding area. The Gallagher Square Rover will patrol Gallagher Square, perform exterior patrols around Petco Park, exhibit a presence in Gallagher Square and the Ballpark exterior as needed. All the responsibilities we will trust you with:                                          * Primarily patrols Gallagher Square and surrounding ballpark areas as required and ensures, in a friendly and professional manner, the security of employees, contracted building partners, and visitors * Detects and resolves immediate safety and criminal issues; responds to the scene of an incident and acts as an emergency first responder if required * The Gallagher Square Rover is tasked with performing thorough checks of all Gallagher Square equipment, artwork, furniture and structures. Must report any activity deemed to be unusual including but not limited to transient activity, graffiti, property damage, or suspicious activity * The Gallagher Square Rover must make contact with any individual found violating Petco Park code of conduct and clear the person from the property * Attend briefing sessions for pass down to learn what events and activities are occurring around and within the ballpark and surrounding area * The Gallagher Square Rover will contact persons loitering in Gallagher Square and the surrounding area around Petco Park, advise them of the no-loitering policy, and ask them to clear the property * Greet all clients, employees, guests, and vendors at Petco Park in a professional manner * The Exterior Rover will perform continuous Gallagher Square checks daily, when time permits and/or when requested by management * Should the Gallagher Square Rover note any issues that are not immediately resolved, they will document the incident in a report in 24/7 Management Software * Follows established Ballpark Security protocols and procedures at all times * Other duties as assigned Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:           * Having a strong ability to communicate effectively and work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner * Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance * Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, with ability to quickly adapt to and learn new programs, systems, and/or processes * General knowledge of office skills, use of office equipment (copier, laser printers, fax machine, telephones, computers) * Must possess effective written and oral communication and social skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines * Excellent written and verbal skills with proven ability to correctly use punctuation and grammar * Possess high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability, while maintaining a professional image and demeanor * Previous experience in large public assembly facilities highly desirable You will be required to meet the following: * Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment * High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience * Courses in criminal justice or security training by recognized academy, school or organization desirable * Must have a valid current driver's license with a good driving record (subject to review) * Must be available to consistently work, 7:00am to 3:30pm, for five assigned working days ranging from Thursday through Tuesday * Must be available to work overtime shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed * Possess BSIS Proprietary Security Guard certification a plus * Previous Law Enforcement/Public Safety experience a plus * Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus * Able to travel as needed * Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to ascend and descend stairs; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds; able to ride a bicycle for prolonged periods of time * As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check Pay and additional compensation: Per the California pay transparency law, the base hourly rate for this full-time position is $20.60. As a candidate for this position, your pay and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
