Our palliative care program is looking to welcome a full-time Nurse Practitioner to our warm, dynamic, industrious interdisciplinary team. The Pediatric Palliative care program at Rady Children includes a mix of physicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains providing consult-based service with an inpatient consult, outpatient, and community presence. There are meaningful opportunities for integration in chronic complex pediatrics, fetal and NICU settings, intensive care integration, cardiology and CT surgery, oncology, and additional realms. The team focuses on quality of life, goals of care, symptom management and intervention, and provider-child-family communication with an emphasis on child voice. Additionally, we are involved in foundational and implementation-based academic research; quality improvement projects; education of medical students, residents, fellows, and colleagues as part of a primary palliative care educational initiative; and campus-wide academic engagement.

We would love to add a Pediatric Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner with a strong clinical background and a passion for pediatric care to provide an extra layer of support to patients and families. The ideal candidate will be able to navigate advanced care conversations, manage complex pediatric illnesses, and collaborate with our committed team.

Job Responsibilities:

-Deliver comprehensive palliative care to pediatric patients.

  • Documents and bills for direct care provided

-Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice

-Engage as a proactive member of the interdisciplinary palliative care team to offer holistic care that addresses patients' multifaceted needs.

-Collaborate in educational and research initiatives to advance the practice of pediatric palliative care.

-Demonstrate innovative and visionary leadership to enhance nursing practice, patient safety, and the patient and family experience.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s of Nursing Degree or equivalent.

Completion of a Post-Master’s Nurse Practitioner program with a focus in pediatrics or primary care.

Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical nursing experience in pediatrics, with experience in palliative care.

Extensive knowledge and recent experience with complex pediatric or palliative patients.

Resilience in handling significant psychological and emotional stress related to chronic or life-limiting illness.

Comprehensive knowledge of health professional resources, community services, and resources relating to the pediatric population.

Proven ability to deliver culturally sensitive care and advocate for diverse children and families.

Recognized ability as a change agent, problem solver, critical thinker, and team builder.

Demonstrated innovation and visionary leadership in nursing practice and patient care.

Adept at leading, teaching, mentoring, and being a role model within the interprofessional health team.

BLS for Health Providers (AHA)

California RN License

Completion of a mandatory RCHSD critical care NP orientation

National NP certification, obtained within 6 months of employment

The expected hiring range for this position is $67.58 to $92.93
